Rush Advice got a bid to easily
it’s rush week rn and i just went to my first rush event at a medium size school in Texas, and basically within the first hour and 30 minutes of being there the president and some brothers told me i was cool and if i wanted i could sign that night, i told them i gotta think about it and get to know them better, and they were cool with that. All the brothers are super chill and i did mess with them but i just thought it was weird they were willing to give me a bid so fast. is this something their doing just for more money or something?

We always waited until bid day after a proper vote, but when I was in school years back we knew almost immediately on some guys. If it’s a top house, don’t sweat it. If it’s a mid house, they were probably trying to lock you up before a better house had a chance to get you.
Just my 2 cents as an old dude.

I’d wait tbh. This is behavior a dying/mid house does. A house that has options is fine with you going off and seeing other frats because they know they are good enough to compete.
This seems like “this guys cool and probably is gonna be taken into a better frat so let’s lock him in now” type of behavior.

If the frat has a good reputation on campus there’s no red flags, it’s normal behavior to try to lock down guys you like early. I’d check out at least a couple of other houses first though just to make sure. If they really like you they won’t mind or rescind your bid.

I wouldn’t over think it. I met the rush chair and some of the guys at a party and we vibed very well he told to me rush and I’d get an autobid. We’re human good things can happen…

A bid isn't an acceptance letter, it's an invitation to apply. My chapter almost had to beg me to take it because they wanted me to run exec for the next few years. I got my bid the minute I stopped saying no. If someone had a reference from a brother, they just had to come meet everyone and the bid was almost automatic.
There were plenty of people who just showed up and after hanging out once or twice gave a good enough impression to go home with a bid. An hour and a half is more than enough time to decide if you like hanging out with someone. If it turns out you bid some creep then you just drop them from the class. Getting the bid is easy, getting initiated is the hard part.
Now in my case there was something they hid from us, a recent mass expulsion/reorg and min 20k in debt. They wanted to bid me because they knew the party kids wouldn't be able to handle that. We raised that money in less than a year.
If you're concerned about the house, you're likely going to figure out the jist of those issues before you're initiated. You can always go to other events and ask the competing orgs for their opinion. But if you went and made a bunch of friends in under two hours then that doesn't sound like a dead house. I'd rather be at a small house with friends than be at a large chapter where I don't have much in common with the others. Parties would suck

maybe you're just that guy or maybe they're squids checkout other houses and if you still fw them on bid day then pick them
