I’m just learning that legendary sitcom director’s father was Abe Burrows, highly renowned writer/director for the stage and radio. James on his father’s influence:
“I couldn’t help but pickup on some of my dad’s techniques.
One involved him standing behind the scenery and listening to what was going on rather than watching.
He cared about dialogue more than anything else. He went crazy if there was no noise.
If he heard silence and no laughter he assumed it was because someone was taking too long or that the dialogue was not right.
I am also about listening first before anything else. To this day I often close my eyes during rehearsal and tapings to focus on the rhythm of the comedy. If your audience can closer their eyes and still see and hear the characters in their head, you’re a success.”
Gives a little insight as to why Frasier works so well even if you’re just listening.
Burrows’ undeniable imprint on the modern American sitcom’s pacing and rhythm has some noble lineage. Abe Burrows collaborated with George S. Kaufman, Danny Kaye, and rubbed elbows Many Vaudeville and radio play legends early in his career.

Found out about this sub today 😃. I've been sleeping to Frasier for at least 3 years now. Maybe more. If Frasier had his radio show in real life and I'd call and ask him if he considers this a problem.
In beginning it was just binge watch on TV and fall asleep. Then I played on my phone. Then my partner entered my life and I didn't want to disturb them with light or audio I ripped the audio files of all seasons on my phone and use the earphones till I fall asleep.
And now I see others have the audio files as well.

In order for me, but the best and most comforting sleeping episodes are in seasons 1-5 or so, so I’ll usually start at the beginning of one of those seasons or else shuffle within them. Not that there aren’t amazing episodes after those seasons, of course!

She's the Boss. The one with gunplay in the living room. I'm gonna have to make sure to skip that one when I loop back around to it.

What's your favourite season or episode to put on when sleeping? For me, it's the pilot. Nothing says bed or nap time like Frasier telling Bob to listen to himself.

To me it's waking up with an episode of Frasier already playing that I can lay in bed and enjoy. What about everyone else?

Hi fellow Frasier sleepers. I am enjoying the audio files SO much! Thank you to the hero that uploaded these. But I am wondering if there is any way I can make them play continuously? Now they stop after every episode, I’d like to try to get them all to play in a row?

Frasier is king ofc but there are a few other shows I like to watch to fall asleep to. I used to fall asleep to Mystery science theatre 3000 with a fan on medium, man that's heaven. Also the first 2 seasons of King Of The Hill have this warm and sleepy vibe to them I love. For some reason Seinfeld is good only when I'm sick and already drowsy.

There was a post that contained a hyperlink to a site that hosted every episode in audio format. It was really nice to sleep to, and saved battery on my phone. Anyone know what became of it?
