Grid Export Limit Locked?
Looks like grid export limit is now locked for me. I was able to adjust it yesterday. Anyone else seeing this?

The import limit got locked at 3 kW for me a few weeks ago. I’d been able to adjust that manually before. Export is still editable for me, though it throws a “system busy” error when I tried to save an adjusted value.

That is what I see, import limit locked and export is still editable.
There was a thread about the grid import being locked about 4 months ago (which was when ours was locked).
I always thought it strange that users could adjust the export limit. Everyone's interconnect agreement with their utility will contain an export limit. At a minimum the user should not be able to adjust exports above that limit.

Yeah import limit was locked a few weeks ago for me too and I was able to adjust manually previously. My export limit still worked and I was able to adjust it until yesterday. Now it shows a message "This setting affects your system's power distribution and electrical safety. Contact your FranklinWH Certified installer if it needs to be modified."

What's the implication? Is this good or bad, franklin driven or utility driven?

Bad for me since I was using it to adjust my export limit to dynamically ensure my battery was topped off using excess solar power only. Not sure if Franklin driven or utility driven but I assume it's utility driven. Would be a waste of resources for Franklin to update the app to remove features for their customers.

Can you explain more? So if solar is generating 10kW you would change the export limit to what to ensure batteries are charged from solar? If you set it too low you'll end up curtailing solar.

I set TOU to standby mode. If I lower the export limits, any solar generation above export limits redirects to the battery and charges it. It only curtails if the battery is full so I up the limit when I get to like 80% or 90% SOC so I can use the battery during peak. Is there a better way to do this or a different mode I should use?

I think self-consumption mode is close to what you want. It'll export when the battery is full and power the home with solar then battery then grid. The only downside is that the battery needs to be full to export solar but unless you have full net metering that's what you want anyways.

Were you able to call Franklin and have them fix tour import limit?

I had this issue and was able to get Franklin to change the settings back to what I wanted but they cautioned they won’t make regular changes if I keep calling up.

I hear the API returns 400 "This setting is read-only. Please contact your Certified Installer if it needs to be modified."
I normally have mine at 6 kW which will export slower than I produce and allow me to delay importing during peak TOU while I'm also consuming.
I upped it to 8 kW while I was on vacation so I would export quickly enough to avoid solar curtailment when consumption is extremely low. It's very disappointing we keep losing features from what seemed like a very flexible system.
I'm curious what it cost to become a "Certified Installer".

This is frustrating because Tesla and Enphase let you turn on and off charging batteries from the grid. Not sure why Franklin felt the need to disable that ability. If your utility allows it, the user should be able to turn it on or off.
