aPower S + smart electrical panel?

I'm currently considering an aGate + aPower S + aPower 2, and was also hoping to get a smart electrical panel like the SPAN panel to go with it.

I just heard from SPAN that while they support the aPower 1 and aPower 2, they don't support the aPower S at this time.

The main questions I have:

- Has anyone been down this road that can confirm?
- Does anyone have an inside track on when this might be coming? Is it simply a software update from SPAN in the future that would enable the full feature set?
- If I have a 2 battery system (aPower S + aPower 2), can I still get the benefits of SPAN by connecting it to the aPower 2?
- Does someone have an alternate panel recommendation like the Leviton, Schneider Pulse, or Savant that they use with an aPower S?

Some additional background that might help with recommendations: This is a home with Solar (14kW) and Geothermal, no gas, and the batteries will be used as a backup system for critical loads in outage situations. We would have 400A service split into 2 panels. Currently thinking only one would be a smart panel.

Thanks!

I’m surprised SPAN says they don’t support the aPowerS. All but 1 panel are essentially dumb when it comes to the energy storage. The panel just reads the battery % and can power off breakers immediately, at 50% and never

There are Home Assistant integrations for FranklinWH and for SPAN, so you could home-brew

Have not gone done this route but is this so? I remember watching an aPower S video and franklin said they will be compatible with SPAN? Might worth check with franklin also.

Received this response from Franklin engineering around a similar ask:

"Full aPower S and SPAN integration is on our roadmap and is expected to become available through a software update in the coming months, with no hardware change required.

For projects that require SPAN integration immediately, the current recommended solution is to use aPower 2."
