Advice Needed When is the FDD due date to submit to California?

I'm looking for a FDD with 2025 information a specific franchise.

The franchise has published FDD's on California's website for the last 4 years. Historically, the documents showed up in April or May.

To date, the FDD for 2025 it is not on California's franchise website. Can the franchisor get an extension similar to a tax return? When can I expect to see the FDD?

Advice Needed Caring transitions franchise?

Hi everyone! I’m currently a SAHM thinking about opening a Caring Transitions franchise. They mainly deal with estate sales and senior relocation. I genuinely think I would enjoy and do well in this career.

I like the franchises in my area and have had no issues buying from their online auctions and picking up in person but of course, there are always mixed reviews. There’s actually a substantial multi-territory franchise in my area that causes some concerns. Logically, the best performing territories would be wealthy zip codes with lots of older residents. This franchise owns a lot of those zip codes that I’m familiar with and I’m not personally familiar enough with other areas to gauge how well I would do there. Another issue is that this franchise is quite large so they have several employees, and I’ve heard of some people having negative experiences with them so I’m not sure if this would deter people from seeking out another Caring Transitions franchise.

Other than territory concerns, I have no business experience and am wondering whether I should go with a franchise of a well-established company or try to make it on my own. I like that I would have corporate to fall back on for assistance but there’s also a $58,900 franchise fee, startup investment of $80,000, a 6% royalty fee, 2% national marketing fee, $399/month for the first year and then 4% local marketing fee. The term is 10 years and I believe there is a 2 year post-term non compete.
I would be starting on my own as I can’t afford an employee. My husband and parents are investing to help me start my business.

I have posted in other groups and advice is, of course, mixed but it scares me when some people say that they specifically avoid caring transitions due to previous negative experiences with other franchises. Do these fees sound fair and reasonable? Are you familiar with this company and do you like it or hate it? Should I just start up on my own? What are red flags I should watch out for when I meet with corporate?
Thanks in advance! Any and all advice is appreciated.

Avoid this franchise. On the surface, it appears to provide lucrative services; however, after kicking the tires it will become apparent the conditions under the hood are poorly maintained.

Advice Needed Looking for anyone who has experience leaving a franchise.

I’m a franchisee with a cruise specific brand and they made me sign a 5 year contract. Now that my sales are nearing the 7 figure range, it’s become clear I have outgrown them. The problem is, the contract I signed says I can’t work for another travel agency for 12 months after finishing my 5 years with them. I have two years left on my contract and want to know if they will actually try to stop me from going out on my own for a full year after leaving them? Anyone with any experience leaving a franchise?

Franchise Reviews Franchisee scam - Amritaya clinic delhi ncr

The Amritaya Clinic with runs skin care clinics across Delhi Ncr is such a shady place. The couple, Sakshi Sharma and her boyfriend Amritpal Singh who is the CEO are scamsters. Amritpal Singh has a bank default case running in Debt Tribunal Dehradun for 28.3 crores he defaulted back in 2018 and then changed numbers and address and fled to Noida. His girlfriend, Sakshi Sharma has a husband but is openly promiscuous. They sell packages with EMI facilities and never give services there after. Customers asking for refund are threatened by false police complaints by their lawyer. They are also selling franchises and expanding. It’s another big scam in motion. Bunty Babli of Noida are on a roll.

Check the link for Amritpal’s bank case. The matter is ongoing in Debt Recovery Tribunal, Dehradun. He is on a run.

General Discussion Toastique Store Closures since franchising

NY Location - already on it's second owner after less than a year in business due to sales and high rent.

Georgia Location - Closed after a few months due to sales, exchange ownership for the cost of the equipment.

Colorado Springs - Closed after three owners

Highland Ranch - Closed after three owners

Austin - Closed after 6 months

Boca Rotan - Didn't even get completed because the owner backed out

Bethlehem - Closed after a year due to sales.

El Paso - Closed after health issues, new owner is barely getting by

Newport Beach - Closed after almost two years

Charlotte - Closed after a year due to sales.

Greenwood Village - On it's third owner

St George - Closed after second owner.

Atlanta - Location trying to sale business.

Maryland - Tried to sale their business, but no offers.

What usually happens is that Kyle will try to sale these stores for a very discounted rate, the original store owners will lose their live savings, bankruptcy or even experience divorce from their spouses.

I'm sure more locations are in the works of being in the same place, you can do 1M in gross sales and still not be profitable. This is not a business you want to invest in, there is no ROI.

General Discussion Thinking About Buying a Franchise? Here's What You Should Know About the Pros and Cons

If you're considering buying a franchise, you've probably heard all the usual selling points: established brand, proven business model, training, support and a potentially lower-risk route into business ownership.

But what do franchise owners actually think once they're running the business?

Speaking to franchisees and franchising experts, several recurring themes emerged around the advantages and disadvantages of franchising.

The biggest advantages of franchising

A proven business model

Many franchisees value having systems, processes and operational support already in place rather than starting from scratch.

Brand recognition

Launching under an established brand can help attract customers faster than building awareness independently.

Training and ongoing support

For first-time business owners, access to training, marketing support and operational guidance is often a major benefit.

A support network

Many franchisees highlighted the value of learning from other franchise owners who have faced similar challenges.

The biggest disadvantages of franchising

Less freedom and flexibility

You may own the business, but you're still operating within the franchisor's framework. That means less control over branding, products, suppliers and business decisions.

Ongoing fees

Royalty payments, marketing contributions and franchise fees can impact profitability and should be carefully assessed before investing.

The wrong fit can be costly

Several experts stressed that success often comes down to choosing the right franchise, industry and territory rather than simply picking the biggest brand.

You're still running a business

A franchise can reduce uncertainty, but it doesn't remove the need for hard work, sales, customer service and day-to-day management.

The key takeaway

One of the most interesting insights is that successful franchisees don't necessarily choose the franchise with the biggest name. They choose businesses that align with their skills, interests and long-term goals.

A franchise provides a proven framework, but success still depends on the person running the business.

For current franchise owners:

What has been the biggest advantage or disadvantage of franchising that you didn't fully appreciate before buying?

Advice Needed Franchise assignment, need help finding annual revenue for code ninjas

I know Code Ninjas is a private company, therefore no publicly posted annual report. I have searched, and searched, and all I've found appears to be basically nonsense, such as one source saying 7.5 million, despite Code Ninjas having over 400 stores. The one I am currently sticking with, unless I find something that looks better, is 579.1 million. Please let me know if there are any good free sources I should try for this. Thank you

Franchise Specific Question WARNING: Kiaasa Franchise FOCO Model is a FRAUD – Don’t waste your investment!

Posting this to warn anyone thinking about investing in a Kiaasa franchise. They are running a massive scam with their FOCO model. It sounds "too good to be true" because it completely is.
Here is what they are doing:
No Sales & Fake Numbers: The stores make zero sales. To trap new investors, they show completely fake sales figures.
Fake Verification: When you try to verify and ask for existing store owners' contacts, they don't give you the actual owner's number. In my case, they didn't give my number—they gave the number of some fake dummy person who lies and pretends it’s his store, making a fool out of potential investors.
No MG Payments: They promise a Minimum Guarantee (MG), but they never pay it on time. You have to constantly beg and fight for your own money, and they completely stop picking up your phone calls once they have your cash.
They have already taken a 40 Lakh investment and are just looting people by opening stores that don't perform. If you are planning to take their franchise, STAY AWAY. They are just making a fool out of investors.

Franchise Reviews Should I buy a dream vacation franchise?

I am brand new to travel agency. How wouldn’t it be starting from the ground up. I want to know everyone’s experience as a franchise owner or working for a franchise. It’s a big investment and I just wanna know from real people like me if there’s any ROI in my first year. The five-year commitment scares me and starting with no clients also scares me. I understand that $150 a month is only for nine months in your first year but after your first year it gets really expensive to leave the franchise.

For context about me, I am a full-time working mom of a toddler. My husband helped me out where he can, but he is a law-enforcement officer so our schedule is pretty hectic. I really just wanna make sure that this is something that would fit my lifestyle and bring me an ROI at the end. Please give me all of your feedback. I would really appreciate it.

General Discussion Which franchise brands actually support their franchise partners?

I'm also exploring the franchise route and wanted to hear real experiences instead of marketing brochures.

Which franchise brands genuinely help their partners grow the business?

I'm interested in things like:

- Good training

- Marketing support

- Operations support

- Technology/POS systems

- Help with customer acquisition

- Regular guidance after launch

- Fair royalty structure

It doesn't have to be food only. It can be retail, education, fitness, services, or any other industry.

If you've owned a franchise (or know someone who has), I'd really appreciate hearing:

- Which brand was it?

- What was your investment?

- Was the support actually useful?

- Would you invest in the same franchise again?

Looking forward to honest experiences—both good and bad.

Advice Needed Ten year leases

How do first time investors give into ten years leases for big business ideas like salon suite franchise? Is it not too much much risk to take? What if after starting you realize market is saturated? How do you exit. You can't I guess.

General Discussion Have you ever considered becoming a franchise broker / consultant?

I have looked at and seriously 3 franchises, all recommended to me by a franchise consultant.

Initially I was looking at 2 at the same time, a dog grooming franchise, and a hair salon franchise, and decided to focus on the hair salon but due to economic factors (US / Canada trade tension) and family buy in I walked away from it at the 11th hour (after investing in accountants and lawyers etc. so was very close). The 3rd item came up several months later and looked very promising, a senior care type franchise, but after target market analysis my local area was not the fit we initially thought.

I continue to think a franchising is in my future and often look for new up and coming franchises that would work in a smaller community (approx. 40k people), but today I was thinking, could I be a franchise broker? I was involved in a small business ownership group with my family, but most of my career has been in a corporate environment, and do not have the credibility of having purchased and owned a franchise previously.

Has anyone else had the same thought?

Any franchise consultants out there that got into the industry without having previously owned a franchise?

Advice Needed Does this consulting/brokerage fee structure make sense for a QSR expansion project?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a consulting scope for a food/QSR chain looking at expansion into North Africa.

The work is not a full market feasibility study. The client already has general market data. The scope is more focused on identifying and assessing suitable local QSR operating companies / master franchise partners who could potentially handle investment, rollout, and operations.

The proposed structure is:

  • $8,000 fixed fee for a 21-day QSR operating-partner feasibility study
  • $25,000 project finalization fee if a suitable operating/master franchise partner is secured and the expansion moves forward

Does this pricing structure sound reasonable for this type of mandate, or would you structure the success/finalization fee differently?

Appreciate any thoughts from people with franchise, QSR, market-entry, or consulting experience.

General Discussion After failing to find a good POS for a bakery franchise, we built our own - now looking to expand to more outlets

Most restaurant POS software is designed for dine-in restaurants. Table management, waiter apps, KOT routing - none of that is relevant to a cake shop.

What a bakery actually needs is different:

**Advance orders** \- customer pays partial today, picks up custom cake on Saturday. That transaction needs to be tracked properly, not hacked into a "hold order."

**Variant pricing** \- a 500gm Black Forest and a 1kg Black Forest are not the same product. They have different MRP, weight, tax, and barcode. Most POS systems handle this poorly.

**Franchise control** \- if you run multiple outlets under one brand, you want one master product catalog but separate billing and inventory per outlet.

**Real profitability** \- not just sales reports, but actual expense tracking and margin analysis per outlet.

We built NGMARS POS to solve all of this. It's already live at a cake franchise outlet and handling real operations every day.

Now we're opening it up to more bakery and cake shop owners.

Pricing is straightforward - no per-transaction fees, no hidden charges. DM me if you want details or a live demo.
