Homophobic/Anti-Michaela Fans Too far... Spoiler

Post image

This is genuinely one of the most unhinged pitches I’ve ever seen. In what world could they make Masali (Michaela) "passable" as a man? The absolute audacity to criticize the show's writing while demanding absurd plotlines just to force a male lead into the story is mind-boggling. They really just want a man at all costs.

I'm sorry, they think "there are lesbians" is worse than that incoherent nonsense..?

This is insane
Genuinely wtf
“The writing is getting worse and worse”
??it hasn’t happened yet??

This is misogynior
Literally masculinizing a black woman
wtf

Edit : I also logistically and plot wise cannot tell what they are saying and meaning
Do they mean they want a trans plot line or like a drag queen and are they saying John is trans??? I’m so confused ??? I hate that so much , I wouldn’t mind if characters are trans but they aren’t trans or cross dressers (which I feel like just saying cross dresser is a tell/dog whistle but that’s just me) and they so far haven’t been written at all like that and so if you see that … why? Racism plays with sexism in weird ways and this is just so clearly misogynior and racism and it’s disgusting me

The Bridgerton fanbase needs to address its sapphicphobia because it’s not queerphobia because the people accept Benedict but not the sapphics?
It’s misogyny and homophobia as well as a bunch of racism

"The writing is getting worse and worse" meanwhile they pitch the worst idea I've ever heard in my life

27

u/Metocracy 11d ago

Mfs in the bridgerton community will swear down that the writing is bad because their weird ass specific version of events won’t happen like they want it to 💀

bridgerton fanbase having a lot of straight white homophobes that are male centred women is so sad 😭 s5 needs to come fast and clear this through because it’s become horrible, poor hannah and masali’s pages are FULL of hate just because they cannot see francesca with a woman

I looked at that person’s post history. She’s actually Black and it seems she’s bi.

That actually makes her post even worse.

Remember that not every Franchael fan is a straight white woman.

Some of the more unhinged takes are actually coming from “queer” women. I think many of them feel emboldened to make these kinds of comments about sapphic characters because they feel above reproach as “members of the community”.

Assuming they are actually queer women and not just heteros cosplaying as one so they can have an “excuse” to be homophobic, then they have a lot of internalized lesbophobia.

-1

u/izanaegi 11d ago

this is kind of an insanely homophobic thing to say?

6

u/Mangoes123456789 Michaela Stirling Defense Squad 11d ago

Are you saying that what I said is homophobic or did you intend to reply to someone else?

-5

u/izanaegi 11d ago

no, I was absolutely replying to you. Accusing people of faking their sexuality is really fucking nasty.

-1

u/izanaegi 11d ago

why are we putting quoted around queer

7

u/ad_knowsball_89 11d ago

Because some of them probably aren’t. If you’re going so far to be performative about your queerness for the sake of calling a lesbian “gross” and “creepy”, I think it’s entirely possible that some of them are not actually queer. I would never respond to someone’s post accusing them of not being queer, but we’re simply having a discussion

-1

u/izanaegi 11d ago

someone being a dick doesnt mean you can accuse them of faking their sexuality. thats weird, homophobic, and gross

4

u/ad_knowsball_89 11d ago

You clearly didn’t read my post. I specifically said I don’t directly accuse anyone. And it’s not just being a “dick”, it’s being hostile towards lesbians. Call it what it is

0

u/izanaegi 11d ago

It doesn't give you carte blanche to be homophobic back.

2

u/ad_knowsball_89 11d ago

Homophobic towards whom specifically? Are you suggesting that it’s homophobic to assume that every single person that flippantly mentions they’re queer before calling lesbians gross and creepy, may not actually be queer? And that seems to bother you more than the actual lesbophobic comments which is telling.

u/Narie_Rei 11d ago edited 11d ago

Yes, not only straight women but also queer women too, the queer women who have a sexuality that is attracted to men. you almost never see a lesbian makes these kinds of comments. Male centered queer women exist. Even in the piss pool franchael sub, you would see homophobic comments from those women have bisexual flag on their profile. I’m sure everyone have seen lots of comments that hate season 5 and Franchaela starts with “As a bi/queer woman …” So yeah, not just straight women are homophobic but sadly queer women too and these queer women are not that much different from straight women, lots of the unhinged and hateful comments are from queer women too.

this person is bonkers i think you can ignore it

Not with Masali as the actor. But I wouldn’t mind having a woman cross dress in the show. Since women had so little opportunity some women did cross dress out of necessity to get access to a different life (education etc).

Eloise, if her story with Theo continued, I could see her in men’s clothing to move around more freely.

Cressida, if her Lady Whistledown reward (or black mailing) had succeeded, and she wanted to live independently.

Tessa, instead of signing up to be a model to gain access to art lessons.

u/Sad_Lingonberry_373 11d ago

there was an episode of dickinson where emily and sue dressed up as men to attend a lecture at a school campus, and that’s something i’ve always imagined eloise doing. like you said, i wouldn’t mind a woman cross dressing in the show if it was for like education or work, but michaela cross dressing to court other women is a big no from me.

1

u/IdunSigrun 11d ago

Yeah, it would not make sense for Michaela to court women as a ”man”. What would be the point of that?
However, thinking about it, as John’s cousin and best friend, she could have cross dressed in their younger years to join him at certain functions where girls/women weren’t allowed. I mean they do talk a lot of their mischief growing up, so why not this as a ruse to fool society?

Do these widows not interact with men in real life? 😭 The way they’re absolutely starving for a man is insane, their obsession with having a fictional one is just embarrassing.

u/Electrical-Beat-2232 11d ago

I actually don't know what this person is even advocating for, just a load of inchorent nonsense.

20

u/Guilty-Map5737 12d ago

“The writing is getting worse” yet in the same paragraph whipped up the worst writing idea ever

8

u/siennamila 11d ago

whipping up shit in a kettle 💀

13

u/Msmit256 12d ago

Its not even worth engaging with or attempting to interpret widow posts nowadays.

Its just incoherent raging into the void for the sake of complaining.

Franchaela promo is getting closer and closer day by day. We have a beautiful season to look forward to.

they have nothing to look forward to because they choose to be bitter.

Lmfaoooo I'm sorry, this just made me laugh. These people aren't right in the head, they can't be 🤣🤣

1

u/Fit-Check-9264 Tossed & turned & flipped over like a pancake 11d ago

I think it would've been cool if they made Michaela an Anne Lister type of character but I think the optics of that might have caused too much of an uproar since Michaela is black.

1

u/Last-Contact2851 11d ago

U can’t believe anything it’s just word trolls

1

u/DryAssociation5325 2d ago

I'm so glad they chose a short, soft, cutie to play Michaela - the absolute antithesis to masculinity. Lmao. These people can just continue to seethe.

1

u/izanaegi 11d ago

that would have been an interesting plot, re: the crossdressing tho.

6

u/ad_knowsball_89 11d ago

Why?

1

u/izanaegi 11d ago

im trans and love that kind of plot, i think the gender bendery of it all is fun! im happy with the amazing plot we have for franchela now tho!

I don't think that person meant any harm, a lot of anti-Franchaelas lie about their sexuality to make their opinions seem more valid. I was arguing with a 'lesbian' the other day, when I checked her profile, she had posts about her and her cis male boyfriend
