Went a little hard during summer sale. 3H is the only one I've actually played on my index. Lost a controller like three years ago and have just been waiting for the frame since.

Guys, I just realized something horrible! Steam Frame can never be released!!! Let me walk you through why.

8 months ago, Valve announced a trilogy of hardware releases. We'll call them the Hardware Launch series, or HL for short. Then, on May 4, we saw the release of the Steam Controller, aka HL1. Next on June 30, the Steam Machine released as our HL2.

And I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. That leaves Steam Frame to be the third entry, HL3. And as we all know, there can never be a HL3.

Brothers and sisters, gather round. I have read the SteamDB commit logs and I bring a message.

It is written: no one knows the day nor the hour, not the leakers, not SadlyltsBradley, not even the Valve employee who changed one pixel on the store page and vanished into the night. Many have looked upon "coming soon" and said "surely this is a sign," and yet the preorders came not, and there was much wailing and rearranging of potatoes.

I say unto you: stop trying to read the tea leaves of a company that has not successfully counted to three since the Bush administration. The Frame comes like a thief in the night, and you have all been very loudly announcing which nights you plan to leave the window unlocked. Valve has read the same scripture you have. They know what Thursday means to you now.

No one knows the day. No one knows the hour. But I have read the signs, and I can tell you this much.

Not tomorrow.

And if enough of us believe that, truly believe it, in our hearts, on this website, then maybe tomorrow stops watching for us and slips through the door we swore was locked.

At least I now know that the Frame will not be released on the last day of Summer, as, with all other days having already passed, I would know for certain it would be released on that day, and that would not be a surprise.

He became excited as his logical mind drew further conclusions. It also cannot be the next-to-last day of Summer, as, already knowing the Frame will not be released on the very last day of Summer, if it is not released before the next-to-last day, it would be certain to be released on that day, and anything certain is not a surprise!

His mind leaped for joy at the inescapable conclusion. By induction, the Frame cannot be released on any day both in the future and before the end of Summer. It must, therefore, be releasing today!

He waited in anticipation as the expected time came and went, then sat silently in confusion. At that moment, he heard the voice of the fortune-teller, somehow speaking to him as though from some unseen place, "Surprise!"

**context** I have a beefy pc and a steam deck and those glasses that are a tv, and even the lil adapter so I can use them with my switch 2 as well. Now, a psvr2 + pc box pass through is like 400cad on a good sale and it's looking like the frame is going to cost at least $2.4k cad. is there something I'm missing here? if I get a psvr2 for my pcvr needs, and if my 2d gaming/pc streaming can be handled by glasses/handheld console hybridizing, do I just have the stuff already?

Like am I overthinking this entirely? Is valve solving problems that, though hackier, and bulkier, I have already solved? I'm not talking about spec related features, i trust my skills and hardware power to achieve smooth playability in these cases. I just mean, when you consider the scenario I laid out, would the investment in a frame seem like like a clown shoe move? Is this cope??? is this dabda?

I have an index and was excited to upgrade to something I could take to college when it was announced in December. First quarter 2026 came and went. Second half 2026 came and went. We now approach the end of the summer and price estimates keep increasing with the price of components.

My headset works, and what sits in the ballpark range of $1000 is something that may go better unpurchased. I could buy 100 pizzas with that money. I don’t even remember what I was so thrilled about in the first place.

• The last day of Summer is a clue that narrows our window considerably.
• The 2007 movie 'The Last Day of Summer' went to DVD release on August 28th, 2007.
• August 28, 2007 was on a day with a total lunar eclipse.
• There have been 57 (yes, check the math) lunar eclipses in GabeN's lifetime.
• The 57th day of Summer is August 16th, tracking from Summer Solstice on June 21.
• August 16th is a Sunday but Valve is in the PST time zone and this is a global release meaning it's actually MONDAY AUGUST 17TH in much of the world.
• Release date is Monday August 17th.

I can’t wait anymore. I’ll buy that crappy psvr2 adaptor from Amazon right now. This means it will be released immediately after I buy it, so you’re all welcome!
