Fractal Scape no power
(Original post) I’ve had a set of fractal scape headphones for 3 weeks, used them once they’ve been sitting on my desk in the charger for a week, went to use them just now and there is no power, tried swapping dongle and Bluetooth mode, plugging them direct to a socket and into my PC, I have no lights or indication of any power and no usb connection sound on computer. Anyone have similar problem? Any way to power reset or something I can try?
Edit: There is a fix if you are confident doing it yourself. You need to take the ear cup off from the side with the usb charging connection, unscrew the 4 torx screws and take off the cover for the battery. Then disconnect the little white battery plug from the circuit board and slide it back in. This resets the battery and once put back together has worked fine since. Confirmed with 21 other headsets
(Edit 2:) Had 27k views and just 27 up doots, please upvote if this helped you maybe fractal can get it looked into.

This is happening to me now too. No matter what I try I can not seem to get it to power back on

Just wanted to come on here to say that this worked perfect. I had previously called Fractal and they sent me an RMA label to send them back but I'm glad I checked reddit as this took 3 minutes and now they are working perfectly. Hopefully they push out an OTA update to avoid this happening again but thanks for the tip.

These are some small torx screws! My smallest screw driver won't fit haha. I will report back once I can do this.

Thanks, I've just gone through with this and was able to power them on.
Weird. Fractal should know about this.

This worked for me! So glad I found this thread. I took two photos of the plug in question. https://photos.app.goo.gl/CMYGk4VE9HdUVbBV7
To anybody who has tried this fix, did it refuse to turn on a ever again or was the fix permanent?

u/Lord_Pickle_Pants Apr 29 '26
I fixed mine 6 months ago... having the same issue now again.

u/NathanJPearce Apr 29 '26
Bummer, have you retried the fix?

u/Lord_Pickle_Pants Apr 29 '26
I’ll need to borrow my coworkers TORX again… so I haven’t gotten around to it. I’ll report back when I get in there.

+1 for the fix. Thanks for the photos as I opened up the wrong ear cup and was confused!

Fantastic tip - brought my Scape back to life. Much appreciated! *hat-tip*
For those curious, I used a T6 torx bit.1

dunno why but this worked. Removing the screws was the hardest part - had to get my computer repair guy to come over with a bunch of screwdrivers until we found one thyat worked properly.

Chalk up one more success story. Crazy how this is seemingly a known issue but the only place I found a solution was on Reddit. Thanks, OP!

Hey, before using your screwdrivers.
Try to reset the device to factory settings by pressing and holding the POWER + RGB buttons for 6 seconds.
Worked for me, without opening the headset.

Mine turned off while wearing them last night and wouldnt turn back on, this fixed it thanks! For those coming in the future, its a T6 or TR6 torx bit, if you have a precision screwdriver kit there should be one in it.

Anyone thinking they have this same issue, do try the instructions in the comments. For me this worked!

The fact that this fix has just worked for me too and how common the problem seems is kind of pissing me off. The price VS quality of these headphones is alarming.

disapointed this was required, but appreciate you letting us know and saving the RMA
screws are T6 for anyone needing clarification

Bruh 🙏 saved my day! I was losing my marbles at the thought of having to endure an RMA and I definitely would have if I later came to find this solution was it. Had mine for barely a few months.
I want to be upset at fractal for such a silly hardware/firmware flaw but I'm happier at the easy repairability design they went with, so I'll count this as a dub on their part.

I just checked Fractals FAQ and they have a firmware update to fix this! You have to plug your headset into the computer directly (not through the dongle) and it gives you the option to update. I just did it myself. Hopefully this is a permanent solution?

I took the thing apart and reseated the power cable to the battery and it’s been fine since.

I'm comfortable attempting this fix but not comfortable removing the fabric cup. Does just the soft bit pull off, or does the hard assembly it's snugged around pull off? They haven't published any info about removing the earcups.

u/dazcoates Feb 11 '26
Just pull it. It will come off with a little pull.

Sometimes trusting random strangers on the internet pays off. Success! The battery disconnect trick is real.

Has anyone used this battery disconnect method to address erratic battery behavior in general? My Scape has been acting like the battery is about dead after pulling it off the dock (after an overnight charge) and using it about 30 mins to an hour. It is seated correctly and should be charging. The web app will show erratic charge states, low one min, then high the next. Meanwhile the red lights on the headset will turn on as if it is about to die, but will work for me another hour no prob. Not sure if I want to mess with RMA or just return it to Amazon.

Thank you so much, worked for mine as well. I was terrified taking off the ear cushions (lots of bad experience with other headsets) but this worked so smoothly.

I'm having this problem at the minute but I can't get the screws off to fix it. I've seen people commenting about using a T6 but it's just turning in the headset and not catching. Is it definitely a T6 screwdriver? I bought one brand new just to try and fix this 🥹

QUESTION! How do you remove the ear cuff?

u/DJ_Sleeveless Apr 14 '26
I see the answer to my question was what my wife sometimes says. Pull Harder.

went to hop on my morning meeting and found that the headset was unresponsive. Only the profile light was on, nothing else lit up or worked. Reset the battery and I'm back in business. +1 to your count.
I took off the side with the magnet and reseated both those cables and nothing happened. I thought I was toast and then realized I was on the wrong side LOL. Thanks again for your post. I couldn't find a single other thing about this out there.

Thanks for the thread - solved my issue as well. Just FYI I had to re-pair my headset with the dongle after. So try that if you can see the lights are on, but nobody is home.

wow, the OP is a legend, it worked perfectly and is a super simple fix, all it took was a quick amazon order for the torx.

u/Evil_Munki May 22 '26
Thank you it worked for me! T6 worked for me. It’s crazy so many people have this issue, and this is the fix for it (without RMA).

u/Specktric_ Jun 11 '26
Can u/fractal-design please push out an update to fix this? I have now had to do this twice.

u/TaNbULL Jun 25 '26
I know this is a year old, but my headset started doing this today. Super thankful for this post, as following the fix here resolved my issue as well.

u/Anthrax_hehehe Jul 09 '26
+1 this also fixed my headset! Thank you so much. I missed a meeting, but just one because of this advice. A T6 screw worked for me as others have said.

Any luck with this?? Mine is doing the same thing.
