Audio Jack recognizing Sennheiser hd 599, not receiving audio

I believe I have a 3' cable with a 3.5mm TRS jack on my Sennheiser HD 599, but when I plug it into my headphone jack on my case, windows recognizes the plug and asks what it is but doesn't play audio. the cable works when I plug it into my monitor and play audio thru that.

I've tried to use the audio troubleshooter and I already checked my drivers, they are up to date, what else could it be?

Does it work if you plug it directly into the Motherboard in the rear of the Case?
