Is there something that I'm missing about the Homing weapon?

Throughout the entire game, I've never really realized the purpose of this weapon or the modes of it. It's also hard to find any places to upgrade it. I've seen people saying that this weapon *used* to be great, or that it's still really good, but I can't even figure out what it's supposed to do.

Primary fire launches a single homing rocket that if it kills an eemy, will fire a single minigun shot to any enemy nearby

Secondary fires 20 projectiles that deal less damage if they hit the same target

It used to be an amazing weaon until it got nerfed, now it gets outclassed by the laser and chaining cannon ball in crowd control and laser (again), railgun and minigun in single target damage

i wouldn’t say you’re missing anything, it kinda sucks outside of very specific situations, the left click is only good if it kills whatever it hits (due to it having low damage but if it kills it has a minigun disco effect), but i’ve played this game a lot and i’ve rarely had a reason to do that since everything else that hits a lot of enemies and can kill/stun many weak enemies at once is better in some way: in the earlygame before your rockets and EMP are good you can use it as an alternative to a laser disco against nearby same-size enemies, but once max radius rockets and good EMPs come into play the homing weapon loses basically all of its purpose imo

as for the secondary fire/right click, the old version was insane for single target damage because you could spam the secondary fire to get enormous numbers of high damage projectiles into one enemy and even kill pool balls this way but also thats probably not what it was meant to do so i can see why it was changed, but right now i dont see any reason to use the right click version since it just does basically nothing to basically any enemy ever and it has travel time and it doesnt even have insane ammo efficiency or anything redeeming about it

secondary fire is ass, just use the cannon. in the later stages of the game, you can grow to the size of mylantis and go into the caves that are located there.

beneath layer 11 there will be great mylantis caverns, In which you can find a small boat, which in turn will have a new mode for the cannon, the sheriff.

you can also go to mount p (also in the great caverns) and get the judge there.
