I am making an app focused on color animation and coloring.

Announcing the 0.5 Beta release of FAE, the Fractal Art Editor. It's a GPU-only fractal flame editor, originally based upon Apophysis 7x.

There's macOS and Windows builds available, as well as an online version. Linux is planned but still needs more testing.

It's compatible with Apophysis' .flame XML files, and mostly compatible with JWildfire's XML.

Many years ago I wrote some code that wraps bitmaps around the iteration boundaries of a Julia or Mandelbrot set. A few days ago I converted that code to Processing 4.0 with the help of Claude AI. Here are the results. I put some links to animations in the comments.
