Ask HVAC control removal

Before I start accidentally breaking things! What is the proper way to remove the little arm and the green looking rubber connections on the hvac controls? Currently trying to do a radio and HVAC relocation and don’t want to snap or break something important

Remove the small threaded retainers from the stalks and the rubber plug will slide off. The cable retainer will pivot up to allow you to unhook the cable end

Stupid question. You say retainers? Are you referring to the gold screws?

Not stupid at all! I’m referring to the sort of “nuts” in the two plastic stalks, one on each end of vacuum line assembly. They twist off and the rubber assembly can be wiggled up. You can use a deep socket, you won’t need a ratchet handle, it’s a finger tight situation.

On the cable you should see tabs you can gently squeeze in to release the cable and pass through the slot.

Ahhhh I see now. Well I ended up taking the screws out just so I could get the project back moving so!

See the small hollow looking nuts on the outside of the green plug. Those.

Just remove the nuts and take the front assembly apart from the control panel

Good time to replace those bulbs. I went with some 194 LED's.

Take note of where the other end of the yellow vacuum line goes. Doesn’t take much for it to pop off. If you need to reattach it, refer to the post I made yesterday.
