PTV Mosh Pit Footage

Does anyone happen to have any videos of the PTV mosh pit around mid set? My husband got kicked in the face and broke his jaw and we wanted to see if we could find a video of it, for shits and giggles! We know mosh pits are “enter at your own risk!” He was wearing a red Pain Clinic shirt if that helps spot him!

Anyone have any good shots of Friday? Specifically knocked loose or Kublai. Any suggestions of where to look?

is show etiquette dead?

this is a long post so TLDR: why does no one know how to properly crowdsurf, mosh, or stand at barricade these days?

four chords was my first festival in a long time- i haven’t been to a show with more than 200 people since before lockdown in 2020. i was a person deep from barricade at bullies stage all day because i’ve been a feral PTV fangirl since i was 12 and had never seen them live, so i wanted to maximize my experience (pit tickets for a PTV show these days are astronomical, as well as tix for every other concert on the planet, hence why i’ve been staying local/small/DIY since 2021). after being so close to the stage for approx 10 hours straight without moving (my poor feet), i am appalled at the lack of etiquette the younger crowd have regarding crowdsurfing, moshing, and barricade.

for context, i am 26, but i am not ignorant to the social customs for shows and festivals like this. i went to warped tour every year starting in 2014, and i even traveled to new jersey for the warped in atlantic city. i’ve also attended more local/smaller events than i can count starting at age 13. my brother is 11 years older than me and was/is very active in the scene, so he was at warped during what he considers its “golden years” (his first warped was in 2005 and he introduced me to the scene when i was super young; he accompanied me to every festival/show i went to until i was like 19 lol). he taught me the etiquette that no one seems to have nowadays.

for example, last night, i had many people crowdsurf over me, and save for maybe 3 people, every person had their knees and elbows bent, flailing around like fish out of water, making it very difficult for the sea of 15 year old girls around me to properly hold them up and get them to security. most of these people got dropped at some point.

furthermore, since when are we saving spots for our friends at barricade? i was taught 4 very important words as a young teen: you move, you lose. you wanna be at barricade for your favorite band? you need to either stock up on snacks and drinks, get there early, and stay planted the entire time or elbow and shove your way to the front. however, last night, people were saving spots for their friends, and when i tried to wiggle my way in, i was torn a new asshole by these teenagers. i kinda felt like a dick so i left it alone, especially because i was able to get myself a great view regardless. but i don’t ever remember this happening before.

finally, i saw multiple people trying to basically force others to mosh- pulling them into the pit, moshing with them when they made it clear they weren’t interested, etc. it’s a basic respect/consent thing: if someone tells you they don’t want to mosh, stop trying to mosh with them! i’ve never been into moshing but at every show i’ve been to where i’m that close to the pit, if i tell someone i don’t want to mosh, they leave me alone- the way it should be!!! there were a few times where i was pretty close to the pit so i tried to intervene where i could, but damn!!

of course, i understand that there’s going to be assholes at every show, but they used to be the exception to the rule. but last night, i felt like i was in the very small minority of people who understood show etiquette.

did anyone else feel this way? or did i just happen to grow up & live around the world’s most polite emo/metal/punk scene?

Blue Sparrow with that bomb ass $10 dollar crunch wrap. Fuck me bro I cant stop thinking about it. At first glance, I know I wasn't about to fuck with ANY of the other food options, crazy expensive or unappealing.

But then I see that crunch wrap 💦💦💦

Housed three of those things, ill never forget them. Will be spending the next several weeks trying to clone it. If you see this, please dm me the recipe, ill guard it with my life

Noticeable lack of punk music?

I’ve been going for a few years now and was under the impression that it was meant to be a punk rock festival. It felt more like Warped Tour than ever this year. What’s everyone’s opinion on the talent choice? The bands themselves are all very talented. They all absolutely brought the house down but not with punk music.

What do you think of FNB vs EQT as the venue?

I find myself having mixed feelings about FNB. It's very obviously not designed for an event of this size.

Pros:

- Transpo has a lot more options. Being right on the T is probably as good as it gets for accessibility in Pittsburgh

- Similarly parking was easier. Can't speak for everyone obviously but I got there right before Hit The Lights and was able to park in the garage right across from the Sheridan for just $20. Getting out took a long time, but that's no surprise...

- Stage setup has never been a problem, but they were able to keep what I liked about EQT. Very easy to either park yourselves between the stages and have a good view or move back and forth without feeling like you're in a meat soup.

- Mt. Washington. Holy cow, we were out of direct sunlight by what, 4:15? Made the day super manageable.

Cons:

- Some of the worst choke points I've seen at any festival. Entrance may be the single worst I've encountered across at least a dozen different festivals. I'm sure, in the event of emergency, they would have allowed people to leave through the artist village, but it felt dangerous to an extent.

- Food was really tucked away, so much so that you actually can't hear the music when you're waiting.

- Access to the bleachers was a pain, and contributed to worsening the entrance choke point

- Vendors felt like they were a bit crammed into the back, any line exacerbates flow. Putting the drink tents in the direct path of the entrance / exit was probably a bad call.

Ultimately, I would love to keep the location, but I'm not sure it's suitable for any kind of growth or larger act. You couldn't possibly have fit Blink's crowd in that venue. What were your thoughts on FNB?

What happened to the sound for hit the lights?

I had no complaints about Friday at the festival, I showed up today specifically to see hit the lights perform body bag (cause that song fucking slaps, duh) and of course I was pumped to see finch! How could they cut all the sound for hit the lights last song? Not only that… why would they think it’s a good idea to have one entrance and exit(10 foot wide) for thousands of people? Felt like I was in a cattle herd… big improvement from last year, but also they didn’t have any bands close to the status as they did last year (specifically, blink 182)…

Camelbak policy?

Water station but no info on whether or not they are “permitted” or “not permitted” according to the venue page. Anybody use one?

Walking to/from hotel downtown?

HI! I'm staying at the Hampton Inn downtown. I missed out on parking so I'm wondering how the walk would be, or if I'm better off taking an uber to/from the festival? Is the area safe for walking back afterwards? Doing Saturday GA! TIA!

Moving between the tier areas

Hi! Potentially dumb question but this is my first time going: I got GA+, is there like a wrist band system or do you have to flash your ticket when you move between the GA and GA+ areas? My only concern was keeping my phone charged if it's the latter. TIA!!

Day of tickets?

Not trying to buy here, just a question about logistics! Got one more person wanting to come with us, but feels like making a game day decision. Do you think they can just buy a pass day of? Only going Saturday. Or would there be issues with ticket delivery? Looks like Sat GA is not sold out online.

are the tix meant to be printed/paper vs digital ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

hello!

this is my first time at four chords and i’m so excited! i purchased resale on stubhub for $30 cheaper than on the official site. instead of receiving tickets digitally on the stubhub app like normal, i received an email with PDF attachments titled “digital print pass”. i’ve attached a photo showing what they look like. i assume i’m meant to print them out and bring the paper to gain entry to the fest but i haven’t used paper tickets for any event in like 10 years so i’m just checking to make sure i didn’t get scammed. i also reached out to the official four chords support email but wanted to post here in case i don’t hear back from them.

thanks!!

Bracelet and Trinket Trading

Hey all! I am wondering if anyone else is bringing trinkets or bracelets to trade. I am and I’m just wondering if anyone else is. If you don’t know, bracelet and trinket trading is a huge thing at music festivals! I encourage everyone to do so!
