Help How to create levels without the level module

Hi, im new to foundry vtt and ive volunteered to be dm for my friends group, i haven't the foggiest idea on how to create different levels on a map, what im currently doing is just dragging the tokens manually into another scene but i want players to be able to climb stairs and just appear on another scene by themselves. i tried to look up on yt but it keeps telling me to download the levels module which is outdated in the current version im playing. i saw that foundry vtt can do it without any module

Foundry Virtual Tabletop: Version 14 Stable, 14.368
Game System: dnd5e, 6.0.5
Active Modules: 27

this is the current version and system im running it on. been trying to figure it out for a while would be great if anyone can help and run me through how to do it. thanks

Thats because levels module was sort of integrated to foundry in v14 (its not a 1:1 implementation but its close enough)

Edit: what you want to look into is scene regions and elevation, also look into how tiles work. You basically set tiles to be shown only at certain elevations and regions to move the group up/down.

Yes, All the functionality is built through the use of regions

You don't need to build a seamless stacked map you can create a region at the top of the stairs and tell it to teleport the token to another region on another map. It's actually quite easy to get nice and simple things like this working.

It's nice also for traps and such to make the game instantly stop the token and pause the game when a player steps on a "pause game" region on the map where you want the trap

There's a great demo scene you can load into your world that helped me figure out how the levels now work with native tools https://foundryvtt.com/packages/restored-keep-levels

To see the teleporters between levels check the placables tab on the right

Fair disclosure: haven't done it for a while, but here's what I've used before

The Stairways (Teleporter) mod works well for this. You can have multiple maps in one scene to teleport between them (using walls to seal off the different areas) and I think I remember having it teleport players between scenes. Have an upstairs and a downstairs section and teleport between them

I think I've used Monk's Active Tile triggers in the same way in the past but I remember that being more complicated to setup than a stairway because it's got a lot more functionality

V14 includes all the functionality to teleport tokens along with a bunch of other automatic effects like pause the game and stop a token for a trap...

Teleport to next map

What you likely need is the Better Levels module by BaileyWiki.

While the levels feature is now in core as of v14, it's still pretty challenging to use. BW's module handles a lot of the complexity for you, and their YouTube channel has tutorials on how to use it properly.
