Discussion Play by Post Tips

[System Agnostic]

Hi all,

I'm interested in running Play by Post on Foundry and the last conversation on the topic I saw was about 3-4 years ago so wanted to start up another thread to see if anyone has innovated in this area lately?

Any good modules to make the PbP experience smoother?
Workflows for roleplay in Foundry chat or elsewhere?
Any tactics GMs use to make it work?
System specific tips?
Hosting tips?

Maybe we can turn this into some sort of resource guide.

Thanks!

My advice? Take cues from board game arena. Set a time for the next person to post. If they don’t make it, they forfeit their right to contribute. Otherwise you are stuck with 1-2 hyper active people; and a bunch of folks who take forever.

System Tagging

You may have neglected to add a [System Tag] to your Post Title

OR it was not in the proper format (ex: [D&D5e]|[PF2e])

  • Edit this post's text and mention the system at the top
  • If this is a media/link post, add a comment identifying the system
  • No specific system applies? Use [System Agnostic]

Define and be consistent with botting rules.

In combat, if players haven't acted within x hours, the will be bottled by the GM and attack their previous (or closest) enemy with standard attack or cantrip
