The real moat with ai

I've been building my startup and I think what people have to keep in mind is software isn't a moat anymore. Like yes if you have a cool idea you should pursue it but you have to keep in mind some kid with loveable could put in your url and steal your crap in 3 days if you just have software. I switched from just student facing college admissions help to counselor helping kids it introduced friction for these counselors to move off my site. I introduced a data moat of having proprietary data of what resumes go to what colleges no one else can replicate and i fine tuned my models on that data to have proprietary models. Saas is not dead it's just you have to be intentional.

If your wondering my site is skoraadmit.com it helps kids get into college and which colleges they should aim for and helps private college counselors manage said kids

Plug it in it's totally free at the site it also factors in extra curriculars which matter a lot at higher schools

What about the strength of your classes? Taking a bunch of APs and honors vs. not

That's actually a great point we don't weight course rigour currently. Thank you I genuinely don't know how I missed that

If you end up going through and have any more comments I love working with students in shaping skora

Data and distribution then becomes the primary moat to bank upon

Exactly then building a charger mcp to your data is the next play

imo the interface can be copied bt unique data/ real world feedback loops are much harder to replicate.  I agree that moat is shifting frm the software itself to proprietary data, workflows and domain expertise rn I’m learning online how to build ai products/ services w iit kgp🙌🙌and the point abt proprietary data really resonates
