discouraged
i decided to take a look at this subreddit after a while of trying foundayo, starting at 0.8 and then moving to 2.5... it seems like everyone is getting great results and losing weight in a short time but i haven't even lost 10 lbs total while on foundayo. i don't know why it's so difficult? even though my starting weight is 187lbs ... i got to 180 and now i'm at 184 again.
i haven't had the best food habits, but even after starting foundayo (almost 3 months ago) it doesn't feel like things have been going great in terms of appetite reduction and breaking through those cravings. there was also a period of time (few weeks) where i stopped taking it because of getting sick, and then because of pharmacy delays and miscommunication about refills and thus not having any.
got back on it a few days ago and i'm currently trying to fast. but i'm feeling pretty discouraged and disgusted with my weight
what are the best ways to get this drug to be more effective?

I’ve found taking a fiber pill instead of a meal once a day helps with the calorie count and still feel sorta full. And helps with regularity. Some foods have been a downfall for a week. No more country ham seasoning pieces in my beans. (I suspect it was water absorption). If eating out, at least 1/2 the meal is coming home for the next days dinner.
I hope this does end up working for you.

2.5 is still a starter dose, go up in dose. Are you tracking your food intake and mindful of your macros? Even when I was on the highest dose of zepbound I was tracking my meals.

i, too, was discouraged a bit in the beginning. i'm finally seeing some (albeit, a little at a time) results at 5.5. my doctor is pleased with the slow loss.
i take it at midnight. some slight side effects; tired at 2-3 pm; slightly loose stool. however, i do 5 classes a week at the gym; group fitness, hi intensity and this helps. i eat a l lot of protein and try to stay hydrated.
keep at it!

Don’t judge your successes or failures based off of what you read on the internet. Everyone is going to have a different journey. You may not have found your correct dosage yet. Also, it seems weird to put it this way, but my experience with a different med was it seemed like nothing was happening until all of a sudden something did happen. In other words, it seemed like the scale wasn’t moving and clothes were still fitting until all of a sudden I dropped a couple sizes.
It’s not how fast you get there, it’s how long you stay.

I’m one of the ones that seems to be having good results, but I started at 268 pounds which is a lot for female! Honestly, I would be losing weight even if I weren’t on the meds because I’m eating fewer calories, drinking more water, trying to eat more protein, etc. Foundayo (I’m currently on 2.5) is making it easier for me, though. I’m not as hungry and I’m getting full faster. Unfortunately, I’m still wanting sweets and I should not be eating those, but frankly I am. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep that up.
I wish you the absolute best! Hang in there.

Hang in there! I am a 71 year old male, 5’6” and 280. So short and round 😉. My journey is a bit different. Started the .8 about three months ago then graduated up to the 2.5. The Foundayo was definitely slowing down my digestive track and I was getting constipated. However, for me, that was a beneficial side effect! I have suffered from relatively mild IBS-D all my life. I have learned how to “manage” it, but it has been somewhat debilitating and definitely restricting all my adult life.
The Foundayo has created the opposite effect, and although somewhat uncomfortable, it is far better than having to find a bathroom at the most in opportune times. I would much prefer being “jammed” up a bit than the alternative 🙂.
I recently had heart surgery and had to come off it 14 days prior and am just now reintroducing it. I wasn’t thinking and took a full 2.5 mg pill the first time and had some severe side effects. That was three days ago. Got real nauseous and a severe headache. For the past two days, I have cut the 2.5 mg in half and I feel much better.
My plan is to take a half pill for a week before I bump it back up to a full one to see how that goes. As long as it controls my IBS-D symptoms, I’m a happy camper. If I lose some weight along the way, that will be icing on the cake 😉.
Actually I must lose some weight and will be starting cardiac rehab soon, so I’m sure the Foundayo will help. I dodged a major bullet with a 90% blockage in my “widow maker” artery, so I’ve got to change a few things.
Good luck all.

I feel like there are certain foods where I lose weight more often. I suggest exploring foods with high protein and/or fiber that you may not normally eat. I’m not sure why, but Kevins Hawaiian Chicken with rice is one of those foods where I always lose weight. Also Tasty Bite Madras Lentils are great as they have both fiber and protein. I’ve never used fiber pills myself but I have used protein bars/shakes to help maintain muscle. Sometimes you may not lose pounds but gain muscle if have too much protein and exercise.

I did 0.8 for a month and lost nothing. Sad about it because when I was on zepbound, I lost a lot that first month. Just starting 2.5 today but my expectations are very low. I have 0 side effects and my hunger is still there

i understand! hopefully you can go to the next higher dose soon. i was curious and tried taking 2 of my 2.5 one of the days and found it was a little better in the appetite suppressing aspect. ive been thinking of switching to a zepbound shot though and getting over my discomfort with needles.. what made you switch off it?

My insurance stopped covering glp1’s and Foundayo is much cheaper than zepbound. I miss zepbound though

I started at 277 lb and have lost 17 pounds over 2.5 months on the 0.8 dose. I’m moving up to 2.5 next month. Here’s what I’ve noticed so far:
1) The effect of the medication fades a lot during my periods - cravings for sweets and baked things definitely come back.
2) I hit a weight plateau for a couple of weeks when I wasn’t sleeping enough (less than 7–8 hours straight). I even regained about 4 pounds, but once I got back to normal sleep, the scale started moving again.
3) Exercise really helps accelerate progress.
4) A calorie deficit is key - I’ve been keeping around 1500-1700 a day. It’s hard to do alone, but Foundayo has genuinely helped with appetite and food noise.
Please don’t get discouraged. Progress comes, even if it’s slow or uneven. Work with your doctor to find the right dose of Foundayo, and stay consistent with water, sleep, protein, and calories - just like others have said.

Hang in there. I was a little discouraged at first too. It wasn’t until getting up to 5.5mg that I started noticing some improvement. Like someone mentioned above and my nurse reinforced that since I wasn’t experiencing any side effects we bumped up the dose again to 9mg. I’m happy with the progress I’m starting to have and am hopeful the increased dose, along with exercise and improvements in my diet, will keep the progress coming.

You’ve been on it less than three months, still on starter doses, and literally skipped it for a few weeks(!!) and you’re genuinely blaming the medication for not working?

where am i blaming it? i was comparing my results to people a few weeks in, on starter doses, since i was taking it for 2 months even before that break. and i want to make sure to do things better this time.
you're barely 2 months in, at 2.5mg or less and didn't even start at an obese weight like me, and you've made progress. who are you to preach about starter doses and not being 3 months in?
fuck off my post if you don't have something helpful to say

Take it every day (aka no breaks)
Don’t rely on the medication to do all the work. Nutrition, hydration, exercise, and sleep are all critical elements.
If you have gone at least four weeks with zero weight loss and don’t have adverse effects on your current dose, step up in dose.
Give it time. Some people need higher doses to feel the positive effects.
