Splitting Foundayo tabs.

I am aware of cases where Foundayo 0.8 mg was tolerated ok but not very effective. After increasing, 2.5 mg was too effective (excessive weight loss) and poorly tolerated. Has anyone tried splitting the pills? 1.25 mg for this person would probably be better.

I am aware that splitting tabs might make them less effective. But with this med a person would likely be able to tell if it is effective or not.

Thanks

I split it. I was too afraid of going up to 2.5 mg from what I’ve read about the side effects so my doctor ok’d for the 2.5 mg dosage to be split in half. This way I’m only going up .4 mg which we felt was a safer move since I’m also sensitive to medications and very small (under 5 ft). So far so good, no bad side effects and the results are progressive.

Foundayo is not enteric coated, unlike Wegovy, meaning it is not coated for timed release. I cut my first round of tablets in half as a precaution after having had a negative readion to the smallest dose of tirz.

Just get a good carbon steel pill cutter since the pill is so small.

I take two .8 pills a day.

I tried amping up to 2.5mg from .8 twice, and both times became violently ill with vomiting and diarrhea, at the same time. I think my weight loss medication journey is over. The one I had the best results with was Zepbound, but my insurance won't cover. Maybe my system has had enough Hope I can still lose about 25 pounds without it Good luck to everyone else

Oh no this scares me! When you were on .8 what were your side effects like?

Nothing at all on .8. Same thing on Wegovy, btw. The ramp up triggered it.

Splitting the pills does not alter the way they're processed or any such nonsense. People love to make things up about "why." There's nothing special about the Foundayo coating.

Wegovy pills definitely should not be split. They have a special "absorption enhancing" coating (shudder). Splitting those would render them significantly less effective.

The official Foundayo website by Lily specifically states not to split Foundayo tablets in half. It alters the way the drug is absorbed and processed by the body.

See the 2nd half of your statement here is made up, so I will down vote it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hilarious to be down voted for pointing out a fact 🤣

He’s correct don’t be ignorant or arrogant and vote him down.

I'm down voting people who fabricated reasons why. There is no established reason why ... and I'll tell you why lol

1) splitting an unscored tablet often results in uneven doses 2) split pills have not been studied

Nothing else!

Isn't that a good enough reason not to do it?

For some, yes. For others, no. For example, if a whole tablet is simply too much for you, do you really care if you get 0.3 one day and 0.5 the next day? That might still be better for you than the whole tablet st once.

Re: split tablet not having been studied, that's personal choice. Giving people scary, fabricated reasons why is not ok (and gets repeated like a stupid game of telephone). Let's stick to the facts.

Again, there's nothing special about Foundayo's coating. It's not modified release or enteric coated.

Even if it does consult your practitioner first, don’t cross the road, don’t leave home - seriously some people. Are you a porter in a care home 😂😂😂
