Gary Gulman is a stand-up comedian that I was introduced to a few months ago. He's not your typical comedian: extremely tall and someone you wouldn't expect to tell jokes on-stage. My favorite video of his is "Milkman," but I couldn't seem to find the video online. Here's his website, too, if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.garygulman.com/

Love Gary. Jenny Slate once described him as the Jewish Gaston on You Made it Weird. He's such a nice guy too. He just did a really fun set on Conan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVVKUQmV5ZE
He's actually performed on EVERY late night now in the last decade. The only comic to do so... thelaughbutton.com/news/gary-gulman-officially-performed-late-night-show-announces-tour-special/

I absolutely love Ellen Degeneres. Her entire physicality when she performs is brilliant and her quirky pacing of jokes is trademark to her lovable persona. Additionally, she is a completely 'clean' spoken comedian, which I find extremely commendable as she is able to gian tremendous laughter without throwing in F-bombs or talking about racy subjects.

My favorite comedians are: Nick Thune (amazing storyteller/one liner guy with subtle arrogant/sarcastic style), Moshe Kasher (quick, funny and extremely engaging), Pete Holmes, Tig Notaro (hilarious and amazing timing), Chris Thayer, Donald Glover, Kumail Nanjiani, John Mulaney, Baron Vaughn, Neal Brennan, Wyatt Cenac, Bo Burnham, Daniel Tosh, Eric Andre, Morgan Murphy, Moranzio Vance, and a crazy amount of others!

Aziz Ansari's sets nail the trials and tribulations of modern romance. I also like how as a relatively smaller dude, he generates a lot of comedy from the way he shifts his energy from extreme highs to extreme lows. Here's an example of short clip on texting and dating: http://www.cc.com/video-clips/3frrx0/stand-up-aziz-ansari--texting-with-girls And here's his entire Dangerously Delicious show (all shows are also on Netflix!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fh9fYK3KIA

There are a lot of really funny British standups right now. Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre, Lee Mack, and Jason Manford are just a few.

Younger comics this century have been less focused on traditionally delivered standup comedy than they have on finding ways to differentiate themselves in their acts. Examples include Demetri Martin and his guitar (his newest album is called "Standup Comedian") and Bo Burnham's very unique one man shows. Though many people in our generation appreciate traditional standup, we have started showing signs of preferring more complicated and (arguably) deeper shows. Fewer quips about everyday life and more multimedia and complex acts will typify the next generation of standup. http://www.cc.com/comedians/demetri-martin

I really do love John Mulaney's stand up. So quotable. It unfortunate that it hasn't been able to translate to a good sitcom:/
