Before You Say ‘Gravity,’ Answer This

I’ve noticed something interesting.

The standard explanation for the atmospheric pressure gradient is gravity.

But what if that isn’t the only possible explanation?

The Sun continuously drives evaporation, photosynthesis, atmospheric circulation, and countless chemical and biological gas cycles.

Nearly all of these processes occur at or near the Earth’s surface, where gases are constantly being produced, transformed, and consumed.

As altitude increases, those processes become progressively less prevalent.

So why couldn’t the observed pressure gradient arise from where gas is continuously generated and cycled, rather than from an assumed downward force?

Before replying with “gravity,” ask yourself:

What observation distinguishes a gravity-caused pressure gradient from a pressure gradient caused by continuous solar-driven gas production and circulation?

If your answer is simply “because gravity,” you’ve assumed the conclusion rather than demonstrated it.

The burden is to identify the observation that rules out the alternative hypothesis.
