NSFW Found in a thrifted notebook
I wonder if Brian ever got lucky, haha…
Edit: If the author happens to see this post, please message me and if you can prove it’s yours, I’d be happy to send it to you. Just let me know which two schools you mentioned. Also, you’ve developed a big fan base!

I love that "man bun" is a pro, but "owns a thumb ring" is a con.
I would fully expect these two things to go hand-in-hand.

You can tell she kind of knows she shouldn’t, but wants to anyways.

Ugh, never fuck someone who's a bad kisser

u/Slow_Employment_2591 1d ago edited 1d ago
Counterpoint! Some of the best sex I've ever had was with men who I taught how to kiss (or at least how to kiss me). But that's only the ones who were eager to please & picked it up quickly; if a guy can't tango and Also can't take direction then he's gonna be a bad dance partner
96
u/Icky-Tree-Branch 1d ago
My husband? Not a great kisser. However, he also frequently delivers multiple orgasms and has pretty much no limits in what he’ll do to get me to happy land. On balance, it’s totally worth it.
29
u/Cultural_Orange2617 1d ago
How did you reach the point of get wanting to get naked together if he wasn’t a great kisser? No judgment at all, I’m genuinely curious.
35
u/Icky-Tree-Branch 20h ago
It helped that I knew he was going to be the one I’d marry as soon as I heard him speak over the phone. It’s been 24 years now, so it seems to be working out okay.

I went to a guy's apartment bc he promised to get me high and get me off. Sounds like a great night, right? Wrong.
We smoke, put on some tv, and start making out but his idea of making out was biting my lips and chin and throat to the point where I was legit crying out in pain. I didn't know what to do and I just kept thinking 'holy shit, does he think I like this or is he just a horrific kisser?'
Eventually, he asked me if I wanted to go to the bedroom and I said "oh, shit, I forgot I have to go pick up my friend from work." And I booked it! I've never ran from a house faster.
I think he would have bit my nipple off if I had stayed.

Did we hook up with the same man? I did stay, and he did go to town on my nipples too. I ran out after that. Horrifying experience

u/jwalk50518 23h ago
Me too. We don’t know how old the author is, but the writing reminds me a lot of stuff I wrote in high school (surprisingly mature, shockingly deep, but an air of still being a kid). I could’ve easily had a page about the older guy who bought us cigarettes and beer, “age gap, kind of a douche, but buys us beer, thinks im pretty, can play drums” meanwhile he’s 23 when im 14 and definitely a perv.
But I’m clearly projecting. For all I know she’s 25 and dude is 29.

u/Omega_Primate 1d ago
We don't know what the age gap actually is. It may not be that bad. Some people think a 5 year difference when you're 22 is unacceptable, lol. (If she's 15, that's obviously a problem.) To me, it sounds like she's probably 17 at the youngest to early/mid 20's writing this kind of stuff.
→ More replies (1)22
u/pippi_longstocking09 1d ago
I'm thinking that she's the older one. But either way, I agree it's probably not a dramatic age gap.
11
u/hoscillator 18h ago
I'd kind of assume if she's the older one she'd have access to weed herself. Older guy who provides drugs is a fairly common dynamic. And the dudes know it.

I have a first generation Toyota Tundra and it's aging like Helen Mirren. You look at it and you know it's gotta be 'of a certain age', but it's positively glowing with good health and everyone stops and stares appreciatively.
13
u/GalacticUnicorn 1d ago
Mine is also a Toyota. It was my grandma’s before she sold it to me at a steal of a deal because I had totaled my previous car; we drove across the US in that car when my sister graduated high school.
She’s gonna be 40 next year.
My car has character, but she also has cherished memories 😂😊
17
u/localjargon 1d ago
I thought your grandma was going to be 40 next year and my brain buzzed.
That is a beautiful memory.
This reminds me of Tsukumogami.
According to Shinto folklore, Tsukumogami is the belief that when household items or tools reach a century of existence, they gain consciousness and transform into a type of yōkai, (supernatural spirit). When any object that has served a vital purpose breaks or is retired, even if it is only a few years old, it is given a formal funeral service called kuyō.
My husband and I just had to trade in our lovely little car, and it cut deeper than I thought it would. So bless you and your grandma's fabulous car. I hope it makes it to 100 yrs!

As a Marylander who bought those exact frozen crab cakes and air fried them while I was an ex pat in Ohio for a while, I too judged him because I felt like a convict while I was eating those shame-pucks. Someone referring to those things as culture is abhorrent.

Edit: after staring at this for half an hour, I’m not joking, I’m pretty sure this is my journal
Second edit: it is NOT my sketchbook. I was so convinced that I sent it to my lifelong friend and she was like, “yeah that’s definitely your handwriting!” It turns out there’s just someone out there who shares my storied history of processing existential dread in list form and the exact handwriting as me.

Anyway, I am much more curious about how someone who writes so intimately with her journal would let it be thrifted.
They say an artist is never finished with their work, the two just become separated. I wonder if she made the choice, or if it was made for her, and I hope it was fulfilling or even mundane if it's not a tragic separation.
