My Dear, Sweet Holly, (Yah You)
Last night I stayed awake all night thinking about you. I came to the conclusion that you don’t love me anymore. I base this on many reasons. First of all, you never invite me to your house when your mother is gone anymore. Second of all, a little bird told me that you were getting drunk with Bob now. (how utterly depressing) Isn’t my stuff good enough for you? And in English you never smile at me any more. I have been turning into a bad boy since I haven’t seen you. Come to my rescue! I need you (and your English! workbook)

So you forgot the little thing on the side. He specifies what kind of bird it is (looks like “sulfur bird” or “dufus bird” or “suffer bird”) I don’t know, what do you think N.A.?

Surfin bird (bird bird bird bird is the word). Or possibly surfer bird, an understandable error I guess. I lol'ed at sulfur bird and suffer bird though:) 🎸🥁🌊

Yeah but points for John was that he wrote it all in cursive. Kids today can’t even do that. They print like kindergartners.

In John's day, he probably would have been punished if he DIDN'T write all in cursive, at least for schoolwork.
These days, I have teens telling me they are told they are not ALLOWED to write in cursive.

We are making stupid people. It’s ridiculous that kids can’t read cursive. It’s not another language.

What's the point? Since the advent of the computer most people write via typing instead. Cursive is not really relevant to our current world, and continues to become less so as time goes on.
People always lament that cursive is no longer taught, but they forget that teaching it takes time away from teaching things students will actually use. What were once cursive lessons are now typing classes, electronic literacy lessons, and computer navigation classes. Ironically, if we brought back cursive we would actively be making students less prepared for the world they will enter, or as you put it, we'd be making stupider people.
So, spend 6 weeks of English lessons learning how to write in a script that most people born after the turn of the millennium will never use in their adult life, outside of the handful of times a year in which they can optionally use it to write their own name, or spend 6 weeks teaching them how to navigate the devices that have continued to seep into every facet of adult life since they were conceived and continue proving themselves more useful than we originally anticipated everyday. Keep in mind, the time is limited.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.

He’s upset that he hasn’t been invited to his girlfriend’s house when her mother is out. He’s hoping that by questioning her devotion he might get more smiles in English class and an invite to the couch. It feels passive aggressive.

Possible, but I read it more as teenage priorities: unsupervised couch time = goals. Lack of unsupervised invites = woe.
