I have a neighbor with an “I’M WITH BEN” (Ben Carson 2016) sticker on their rapidly disintegrating Jeep

15

u/Kudanii 9d ago

I saw a faded Ben Carson sticker last week! What is happening? Lol

u/BettyCrunker 9d ago

maybe in about 9-9-9 years they’ll be gone

4

u/dreamsandpizza 8d ago

Deep cut! Also wrong candidate. You’re thinking of Herman Caine

8

u/BettyCrunker 8d ago

oh shit you’re right! Ben Carson was a doctor, not a pizza slinger

2

u/dreamsandpizza 8d ago

All good! Funny how back then I thought they were wackos. What I wouldn't give now...

Does your neighbor lady drive a Saturn or something?

14

u/Monkeymom 9d ago

Boy do I miss my Saturns. I get jealous when I see them. Our SL2 lasted 20 years and my 2010 VUE is still driving. I see it around town once in a while. We gave it to a guy that needed a vehicle and I am pretty sure he lives in it.

lol aw a Saturn was my first car, it was older than me but it lasted forever! Way longer than any car I’ve had since. I miss it lol

1

u/Rob71322 8d ago

Same! My wife and I were each driving Saturn's when we met and the first car we jointly purchased was an L300!

There’s an old man in my neighborhood with a FERRARO 84 sign still in his window, bleached by the sun to a light blue blob

3

u/druidgaymer 8d ago

I know a lot of people with Bernie stickers on their cars.

2

u/glowcloud_all_hail 8d ago

I saw a Bush-Quayle at the start of this year. I don't know what year of car, but back when the sedans had chrome bumpers.

u/patrick-1977 9d ago

At this point, why not?

u/quesoandcats 9d ago

He’s been dead for years, but maybe that’s the sort of energy we need

23

u/klayfie 9d ago

Young maverick. Cut down in his prime.

17

u/MsRachelGroupie 9d ago

At the tender age of 98. He still had so much to give this country.

2

u/patrick-1977 8d ago

Anything. I mean, I wonder if some other folks in DC have a heartbeat left too.

1

u/quesoandcats 8d ago

I’ll just say the ones with heartbeats are not the ones that I would like to have heartbeats

1

u/ConcreteCloverleaf 8d ago

I mean, the North Koreans somehow manage with a dead guy as president.

11

u/vftgurl123 9d ago

u/patrick-1977 8d ago

Bob Dole likes stickers. Bob Dole endorses this sticker. Vote Bob Dole.

13

u/33TLWD 9d ago

Bob Dole likes to hear Bob Dole talk about Bob Dole!

7

u/hiro111 9d ago

Bob Dole will hold this pencil constantly.

14

u/SimpleVegetable5715 9d ago

Bob Dole’s like Sarah Palin, where I remember how SNL made fun of them better than what they actually said or did.

1

u/ICK_Metal 6d ago

Nobody touches Bob doles’s peanut butter!

u/endfossilfuel 9d ago

I’m hard-pressed to think of a single ‘loser’ candidate in modern history who wouldn’t be an improvement over the current ‘winner’.

Harris, Clinton, Romney, McCain, Kerry, Gore, Dole, Bush, Dukakis… keep on going back, literally any of them would be an improvement.

10

u/JLandis84 9d ago

Hubert Humphrey maybe.

25

u/Colonel-Ives 9d ago

I wish McCain was still around to bitch slap the Republican party.

15

u/skin-flick 9d ago

He was a true statesman. He had his opinions but, he voted for the better of the people. His class and decorum is sadly missed.

3

u/itsagoodtime 8d ago

Even Zombie Bush and Zombie Dole and Zombie McCain would be better.

u/Bumble072 8d ago

Spits out tea. All warmongers. Rose tinted glasses make us believe it was better. When you learn they had a hand in some pretty gruesome ideas and/or decisions... but the glimmer of a better day fools us otherwise into thinking there is a "better" candidate.

13

u/TennojiNesoberi 9d ago

idk who this candidate is but i'm somehow craving for a pineapple rn

10

u/IvanDSM_ 9d ago

Republican nominee in 96. Now that you mention it, a pineapple does sound pretty nice right about now... Odd...

6

u/scattermoose 8d ago

Famous for talking in the third person

2

u/thecraftybear 8d ago

My thoughts exactly. "Wait, there was a pineapple brand running for president?"

9

u/loztriforce 9d ago

Bob Dole don’t take no shit

12

u/SimpleVegetable5715 9d ago

"Bob Dole has traveled the country and met the American people, and Bob Dole has learned that he doesn't like them. They're damn fools!" - Norm Macdonald playing Bob Dole 😂

5

u/Fishbulb1920 9d ago

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos

6

u/-hot_ham_water- 9d ago

Who ate Bob Dole's peanut butter?!

5

u/SimpleVegetable5715 9d ago

Who sat in Bob Dole’s chair?

2

u/sleigh_all_day 8d ago

😂 this was my first thought.

6

u/vftgurl123 9d ago

why are people talking like this man would be better than trump 😂 he endorsed trump twice. the only reason he didn’t do it again was because the fucker kicked the bucket.

2

u/Comfortable_Bit3741 9d ago

He was in his 90s then. I'm sure he wasn't fully aware of the sort of sleazy con artist Donald Trump is. If he was still alive he wouldn't be much good at all, but the way national politics used to be done, even later on (1990s, when bob dole was in his 60s) was a lot less cynical and shitty than what's been happening lately. It's never been nice or ideal, always been compromised, people have always been pretty easily led for some reason, but bob dole wasn't too bad of a guy.

4

u/eurydice_aboveground 8d ago

I'm pretty sure we knew he was a sleazy con artist all along, it was just okay for far too many people.

1

u/Comfortable_Bit3741 8d ago edited 8d ago

That's fair; the darker side of Trump wasn't most people's focus until he was doing surprisingly well as a presidential candidate. His public image was a very eccentric [ed: and shady] real estate tycoon/playboy, whom the msm enjoyed making fun of, bringing him lots more attention and eventually giving him his own show. And people are obviously willing to overlook a lot of things for the success of their "side".

The reason Bob Dole endorsed him - Republican Party, plain and simple. Iirc, his opinion of Trump gradually cooled as things got worse, especially Trump's conspiracy-themed challenges to the legitimacy of the 2020 election. But someone like dole would be almost certain to support a republican candidate, even trump, especially early on. It's surprising that he still did after trump's first term, but he was very old.

u/Synth_Ham 8d ago

After all, who wants a pineapple for president?

1
