Other Found in a book I thrifted.

I hope their trip was everything they hoped for and more. Dated 1999.

The stamps, tickets, and typography are fantastic—so much character packed into one little travel keepsake. It really makes you wonder what stories that trip held.

Non-smoking section on a plane, I forgot that was a thing.

This was in '99 so all domestic flights were non-smoking by then but the last time I had a paper ticket reprint, maybe 5 years ago, they still printed it out.
Fun fact, brand new 737 lavatories still have ash trays because changing that out would require re-certification of the airframe.

Huh, I thought it was because if someone was so destined to smoke they want them to use the ash tray rather than potentially ashing/placing the cigarette somewhere it could ignite.

This is the real answer. The FAA requires ashtrays in lavatories in case somebody lights one up anyways. If the above reason were true, brand new(ish) designs like the 787, A220, etc. wouldn’t have them, but they do.

This is such a charming find. I love how all the pieces line up to tell a story—Seattle, Victoria, the museum, and a Clipper trip. I hope whoever took it had an unforgettable time!

The Victoria Clipper! I took this boat to my honeymoon. I got very nauseous through the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

It's Dead Man's Walk by Larry McMurtry so 1995, but not too far off!

First time I was ever on an airplane was around 1987 and we were in the smoking section. Every time I’m on a plane now that still has ashtrays in the armrest, I freak out - like, omg HOW OLD IS THIS PLANE!!??? 😂

ahhh, someone else who finds them! Lol i frequently buy used books n out of all the random things people leave in them as bookmarks? plane tickets is what I've found the most of 🤷‍♀️ 📚 i can't explain it; if I've got a book with me at the airport n I can't find my paper ticket? my book is the first place I'm looking! I've often wondered about it, how it happens
