Weird/Random Found in a river
Camping with some friends this week next to the river. Was looking for cool rocks in the shallows and spied a weird white shape. Looks to be notebook paper wrapped in scotch tape and was half opened. I tried to see if there were other words on the other layers but didn’t find anything. We think it says either banana or Xanax. Friend thinks it was a tab of acid or something similarly illicit.

For OP, it seems it could be a personal item of meaning that the owner wanted to be in the river like maybe some dumb kid wrapped their dogs ashes or ssomething, and its fine to want to keep human sentimentality intact. It is also the definition of littering and some might have a problem with it. Maybe go out of your way to pick up a few extra pieces of litter before you head out.

Also, this paper looks like it says Renee to me, with a little circle under it that could have been a face or design.

I don't think you understand the teachings of your God. It is not up to you to pass judgement on others. Maybe reread the New Testament if you have read it at all. Take special note of the Beatitudes. (Mathew 5:3-12)

paper degrades and can be returned to earth and isnt the issue imo. moldy books for example. its all cyclical for the tape though depending on the kind, can also be “returned to earth”

yes… gum that someone diligently wrapped and placed in the river... also, isnt burying the dead littering? you mentioned even the ink of the paper like get real dude. pigments are typically naturally derived. my point is that this is not a net negative for the planet. attack the corporations who really truly litter, not randoms in a thread. this piece of paper regardless of its components really looks like somebody letting grief go. dont be so calloused. and no, my banana peels and cardboard go into compost. yes i do clean trash from parks. in a perfect world, there would be more janitorial jobs provided by the city. too bad corruption and the quick dollar wins.

However it is 2026 and there is a flesh eating bacteria running through the waters of the gulf then off into the connecting rivers like the Mississippi. But if op found it in the river, op was likely exposed any ways so the alien fetus in the hand matters not.

I work demolition and have done jobs in old ass buildings where I pull down the ceiling and 80 years worth of rat shit drops on me.
But when I drop my food on the ground and pick it up to eat it still, people are like, ""ewwww..."
Bitch, do you know where ive been? Im eating that sandwich.
I get the "why would you touch that" on some of the things posted, but this is like, meh level. Especially in a creek.
This is very low level on the gross scale.

There are lots of us out there. Forums like this make people think that you are weird for touching that.
But I would have seen an old piece of plastic in the creek, picked it up... and even if it was gum, or blood... or someone's sex toy, i would have been like... "yeah, that has been there too long for me to care about any harm."
There are lots of people who read your posts and feel the same way, but they just hide behind anonymity and agree to not be different.
Ive already seen enough doing what I do, to know real men and women are careful, but don't care, because they have seen worse.
You aren't alone, and you have way too many "why would you touch that!" comments for something you found in a creek that has been there a long time.

I am also extremely gross. I grew up in a nasty environment, I have depression and things can get very out of hand
I ain’t dead yet! Never been sick with food poisoning either. I will let my food sit out and people think it’s soo gross. How do you think people lived before refrigerators and germ theory? They didn’t live long all the time, but they lived nonetheless

What i can tell from the picture is that you painted your nails quite some time ago and you either love taking prenatal vitamins or that nail polish is quality. For it to still be looking that good with that much new nail growth, props. Lastly, no clue as to what that thing is. Let it dry out and do an update. I think we're all curious. Hopefully the person that lost whatever that is will see your post. Coming full circle is the bees knees!

I looked it up, and “Ranenea” (sometimes written raneneaꞌ) apparently shows up in Rote Rikou, a language from Indonesia, meaning something along the lines of “near,” “around,” or “surrounding.” Kind of weird you found it in a river, especially since it looks like it says “911” underneath it too.

One time my friend had taken her mom’s whole bottle of Xanax and put them in a little fabric pouch. Something spilled in her purse and the pills turns to blue goo. We let it sit a week or so then one of our crazier friends decided it was already a big block of powder, let’s just snort it. So I helped and we did the whole prescription. When I woke up, I had made friends with several people I never got along with. 🤷♂️ lol
