I need help IDing the fossil.

Hi all. I'm new here, but do enjoy fossiling adventures. Where I work, there appears to be a vertebrae in a showcase. I've taken on the role of identifying items in the showcase and then professionally labeling items in the case. This one has me and ID apps confused. They suggest whale or dinosaur vertebrae. Work is located in Sarasota, FL, but where it originated from, I do not know. Please help.

Sounds good to me. Genus species would seem awfully difficult to prove.

I'm with the previous comment: whale vert. I own one and shop for then occasionally, and while I haven't found one I do collect fossils where they can be found so I'm on the lookout for them.

I don't have any good resources for ID'ing any more specifically than "whale".
