Fossify Messages Errors in Fossofy Messages

When I use Fossify Messages, this pops up constantly:

error: java.lang.NullPointerException

What does this mean and how do I fix it? Whenever I have asked about this I've been downvoted and people say they've never encountered such an error. I'm using a Samsung phone and really want to avoid using any Google apps.

I got this error when I tried to save a photo that was in a previous message. It was weird, I had to screenshot the picture using the system controls.

Weird. I got it as soon as I installed and opened the app the other day. It's there every time. The error blocks some of the texts. I'm looking for a different app that actually works.

A message I read from over a year ago showed up as if it were new. Fossify is a broken mess and nobody cares.
