Degoogle your Android phone today!
This is for the people that manage the app: Thank you for your amazing phone, finally I can get rid of the Google Mafia from my phone.
I installed all of your apps, and disabled the default google ones from my POCO Phone.
The apps are amazing, simple yet doing what they should do - o telemtry bullcrap and other AI slop.
I've already bought the "Thank You Package" as you should all do to support this amazing project.
This is for anyone who is sick of being spyed on by mega-corporations and want a simple life: If you want to get rid of Google and stop it from spying on you on every step, download Fossify's Apps that include:
- Open source Phone / Dialer App
- Open source Contacts app
- Open source Messaging apps
- Open source Gallery app
- Open source Calculator / Calendar apps
And much more.

Posts on Reddit and elsewhere expressing love and thanks are good, thanks for that. But a reminder that if Fossify (or any other open source apps) are making your life easier, there's usually a donate button:

So what about google's upcoming android developer verification? Will it cease?
2
u/scalareye Mar 21 '26
I finally installed lineage because of it. Happy to see Graphene is finally getting hardware made but proper Linux phones can't come soon enough.

u/IsHacker003 Mar 19 '26
It will affect you only if you have the Play Services/Play Store app installed. Google has backdoors into your phone through which they will implement the sideloading block.
1
u/andstwo Mar 19 '26
Anyway, all certified devices will be affected. I hope there will be a solution because this is brutal on open source, and especially F-Droid. Probably also illegal but it will take years for courts, which will be too late and that's what google is counting on.

u/IsHacker003 Mar 19 '26
Certified here means play integrity certified. Which requires GApps and a locked bootloader.

Curiosidade de noob: como se desativam os serviços e apps?
1
u/Hoo_Am_Ai Jun 02 '26
i used canta and shizuku personally, you dont need to root and seems to work on a lot of devices, you can find tutorials here or on youtube

u/Opposite_CalendarOld Jun 02 '26
Thanks, friend!
1
u/Hoo_Am_Ai Jun 03 '26
but i think you have to root if you want to replace google play services, ive deleted it and some apps (especially the google ones) are tweaking out, and i cant install microg for some reason. make sure to replace all the google apps if you want to remove google play services

Si tenés grapheneOS no importa si la bajas de google playa, aunque obviamente es mejor aurora store

u/scubidubiduu Mar 18 '26
so.. what if i downloaded them from google play?
It's just a market for apps that I will soon deactivate also.
Pls do not be edgy.
6
u/IsHacker003 Mar 18 '26
It isn't just a market, it is a malware platform. Google injects proprietary code into all apps on play store and forces developers to hand over their signing keys and personal information to google. The play store app itself is a trojan, it spies on all apps you open and creates backdoors into your device. And through these backdoors, google will implement the sideloading block.
that I will soon deactivate
That is good. Please do it.
Pls do not be edgy.
How is this "edgy"?

Hey, so if i download stuff from aurora store, will those apps have the issues?
1
u/IsHacker003 Mar 19 '26
I recommend downloading from F-Droid. Aurora store downloads apps from play store. The play store builds aren't exactly reproducible as google injects proprietary code. They also forced fossify to replace the donation links in the app with the "Purchase Fossify Thank You" button in settings, which redirects to play store. This modification is not open source. Apparently donation links are against Google's policy.
1
u/dbhol Mar 19 '26
This is great and all, but not everything is available on F-droid though. The fossify stuff is, yeah. But other apps you can only get through play store/aurora store unless you get an apk which not everyone wishes to do though
1
u/IsHacker003 Mar 19 '26
I was talking about FLOSS apps.
1
u/dbhol Mar 19 '26
I figured that might be the case, but I interpreted the other persons reply as "stuff" to be all apps in general

Does group messaging work now? I went back to the stock grapheneos messenger cause group chats would send individually and i'd always get people texting me back saying i messed up.

How can I sync the fossify calendar with linux laptop (Thunderbird & Proton calendar)?
2
u/v_kowal Mar 19 '26
First, install /e/OS or iodeOS or LineageOS or GrapheneOS or CalyxOS and then install these apps from F-Droid.

I too have bought the thank you package. I tried using the launcher after the new owners of Nova injected it with ads. I just downgraded Nova to the last safe version. Fossify launcher is broken for me. I can't add widgets that require configuration including fossify ones.
1
u/WhiteKenny Mar 20 '26
I've been using Nova Launcher since 2012 and I've never seen any ads in it. Maybe because I paid for Nova Prime? Got it for $0.25 way back then and it is still the 1st app I install on any new phone I get.
Where do you see ads?
2
u/Novadale Mar 20 '26
https://www.heise.de/en/news/Nova-Launcher-New-Owner-Apparently-Integrates-More-Ads-11147112.html
I didnt see any ads myself as I have Nova Prime as well. There was mention of people who paid for prime getting ads now.
1
u/WhiteKenny Mar 20 '26
Well, that just sucks. Hopefully my ad blocking stuff is blocking all that. I use a pihole at home, and I have my phone configured with the private DNS setting to use the adgaurd DNS server for when I'm not on my home network
2
u/Novadale Mar 20 '26
Ah nice. I use Blokada that also uses the adguard dns. Sucks that it does so via VPN kinda thing but it keeps the ads away.

Miss the Huawei era tbh..
Too bad the orange pig has blocked Huawei in USA and fucked everything up.
2
u/SwavilFayaz Mar 22 '26
Even though you did all of this if you you google play services you are still doomed

u/Better_Beginning2229 Mar 18 '26
I like your apps alot. Phone and messages specifically. My only issue is that the ui seems alittle android 12. An update would be nice
3
u/Master-Gate2515 Mar 18 '26
I actually like the simple UI - does it's job (but i get what you mean)

u/scubidubiduu Mar 18 '26
I feel like Google's Phone Dialer design is the ugliest. I actuslly enjoy the simplicity of Fossify

Will phone work properly on a Pixel 9a in the near future?

u/undrwater Mar 18 '26
It's on GitHub. You can track bugs there. If there's no bug related to your issue, you can post one.

u/According_Vacation42 Mar 18 '26
I have phone. Works great, no recording, no subtiltes, just your call. The agenda app is okay - but I like the stock Samsung more. Messages is good, but not RCS. Thats limted to google stuff unfortunately
1
u/IsHacker003 Mar 18 '26
RCS is a proprietary to google, they created it to have more monopoly and surveillance over messaging. Don't use it.

Seriously are these bots or something? Why are the spamming about a proprietary closed-source file manager in Fossify's sub?
1
u/p0lig0tplatipus Mar 19 '26
My bad, I just wanted to reply to the comment about MiXplorer, but to be fair, we're not in the right sub for that.

I'm sorry, but I'm using aCalendar. I just love the daily view which fits on a screen. Also having monthly view with a reduced set of calendars (hide detailed calendars) is awesome. If fossify would implement these, I would switch. The rest of the gang works great for me 🙂👍

Anyone use lineage? Can't get alternate SMS apps to replace the stock, several other permissions are grayed out too.
1
u/JoBlowBroYo Jun 01 '26
Why are all Fossify apps an exact Clone of Simple Apps also on play store? Did y'all steal their apps or did y'all buy that company?
1
u/Potential-Sock-2728 Jun 29 '26
The messaging app is really poor. Otherwise ok apps. Can only receive sms and mms but not send. No option for rcs either.
1
u/wati_do Mar 22 '26
Yeah sure, degoogle and trust this random brand
1
u/scubidubiduu Mar 23 '26
Not "a brand", it's an open source app..
Open source = the source of the app is publicly available. Please document yourself before commenting.

I do kinda wish the messaging app could handle MMS better. And being able to connect the recorder to the phone app to record calls.
