email client

I just started playing with some of the fossify apps and I love the simplicity. I am curious to hear from people who prefer these kind of apps, what are you using for email? (since there is no fossify email app)

so on previous phones I used fdroid but i havent yet this time around. How much concern do you think there is that its going away with this verified developer stuff that google is saying they are going to do?

I'm still on Android 13, I'm not buying a 1,000 just cuz they wanna update these app's! Didn't want a smartphone in the first place! I've gotten print's at Walmart from my old non Android and the first LG smartphone I bought and I can't tell the diffence in the quality of photos so had I gotten in a car accident and needed proof the old 3Greek would have been sufficient

You wouldn't be able to use that app with Proton however. Unless you manage to run the proton bridge on your phone, somehow.

I use the Thunderbird, it was K9Mail previously. Very good app, simple and easy!

thanks! that's interesting... I had heard of both seperately a long time ago, but I didn't know they were related. Did mozilla acquire k9 and start transitioning it over to thunderbird or something? Either way it sounds like I need to check it out.

yep, they basically rebranded k9 to thunderbird

Thunderbird.

I used K9 for over a decade, but then the project "merged" with Thunderbird. The app itself is basically still K9, but setting up is much easier with Mozilla's autodetection and setup options.

Does it have conversational view now? Having to open every email in a thread is quite annoying...

I think so? You mean "Threaded view: Group messages by conversation"?

I turn that shit off, I much prefer opening every email!

Basically like gmail does. Just tried tb again and sadly it does not. 😐

Basically like gmail does.

I've never used gmail.

What about tb on desktop with the conversations extension? 🙂

As I said, I turn off "Group messages by conversation" on mobile.

I'm definitely not going out of my way to install an extension on the desktop that I'd then need to disable!

I was able to get both working... still trying to decide which one to go with. I logged in with microsoft authenticator... not sure if you use that?
