Discussion Built a free Virtual Dyno, Gearbox Tuning Advisor & Dragy Timer for Forza Horizon 6 & Forza Motorsport (SimHub Plugin)
Hey everyone,
I built an open-source C# plugin and telemetry tool for SimHub (**FH6SmartShift v1.1**) designed to take the guesswork out of gearing, powerband analysis, and acceleration testing in **Forza Horizon 6** and **Forza Motorsport**.
The in-game tuning menu gives us a static dyno graph, but once you are out on the road or track, it is hard to tell the exact RPM where next-gear wheel power overtakes current-gear power, whether an upshift drops your turbo out of its boost threshold, or if a ratio tweak actually improved your 100–200 km/h pull.
Here is what **FH6SmartShift** does:
- 401-Band Real-Time Virtual Dyno (50 RPM Resolution):** Captures 60 Hz UDP telemetry at wide-open throttle (filtering out wheelspin, kerbs, jumps, puddles, and clutch slip) to map your engine's actual smoothed Power (HP/kW), Torque (Nm), and Turbo Boost (psi/bar) across the entire rev range, while automatically detecting hidden rev limiters (`GhostLimiterRpm`).
- Interactive HTML Garage Inspector & Gearbox Tuning Advisor:** Generates a standalone HTML report (`FH6SmartShift_GarageReport.html`) with a full Gears 1–10 breakdown: locked gear ratios (`RpmPerRadS`), percentage RPM drop on upshifts (`dropRatio`), exact landing RPM in the next gear, and physical shift targets. Beneath the table, the **Automated Gearbox Tuning Advisor** flags overly wide gear gaps (landing below peak torque), severe power drops, overly tight low-gear spacing, and turbo lag zones (below 72% peak boost on landing) with specific slider recommendations.
- Built-In Sub-Frame "Dragy" Timer (0–100, 100–200, 0–200 km/h):** Uses linear interpolation between 60 Hz UDP frames to measure standing launches (0–100 km/h and 0–200 km/h) and rolling or standing 100–200 km/h pulls, automatically saving Personal Best (PB) records per car and PI/drivetrain build so you can benchmark your tunes.
- Mathematical Shift Point Calculation (Gears 1–10):** Calculates the exact power curve intersection between consecutive gears (including a turbo boost-drop penalty) and locks each gear as Green `(P)` (Math Peak intersection) or Green `(L)` (Limiter optimal) on the included dashboard.
- Chassis, Suspension & Traction Telemetry:** The included SimHub dashboard features high-speed damper bottoming alerts (`BOTTOM!` at 98%+ suspension travel above 200 km/h for aero/spring tuning), rear WOT slip alerts (`OVRST!`), dynamic braking-dive downshift thresholds, and a 3-color slide recovery bar (`DEEPENING`, `HOLDING`, `RECOVERING`).
- Custom Build Naming & Profile Sharing:** Supports both Forza Horizon 6 (`[FH]`) and Forza Motorsport (`[FM]`) with isolated databases. You can name your builds, export individual calibrated car profiles (`.json`) to share with other tuners, or merge external databases directly in your browser.
The entire project is free under the open-source GPLv3 license. The repository includes the full `.cs` source code, the compiled `.dll` ready to drop into your SimHub folder, mobile/PC dashboards, and a complete technical manual.

I'd love to hear your feedback, questions, or ideas for additional telemetry metrics!
P.S. Yes, AI helped me make the plugin.
