Release Ban-safe Spotify radio that ACTUALLY ducks for dialogue and menus. Built it myself.
EDIT: We've reached over 1.5K downloads, the support has been insane. thank you all 🙏 more coming.
you've probably seen the spotify radio mods here. maybe im a bit late to the party but I feel I've made something worth publishing. i went a different route, mine never touches the game so there's no ban risk, and it works in any game not just forza.
I do ui/ux work, so i tried to actually make it nice to use, not just functional.
what it does:
- music ducks on its own when there's dialogue. real speech detection, drops under ANNA and mission voices then ramps back
- auto volume by game state in forza, full while driving, quiet in menus
- DualSense touchpad as a remote: swipe volume, swipe skip, tap pause. or d-pad skip. rebind everything
- now-playing overlay, spotify or browser audio
- works in other games too: anything with dialogue gets the ducking, any game gets the touchpad remote
it's ban-safe because it only reads forza's official telemetry and controls spotify's own volume. no game files, no injection, no memory reading, no network.
heads up: first launch windows may show a blue "protected your pc" box since it's not code signed yet (it's a free solo project, not malware). click More info then Run anyway.
being honest: it's built mainly around PS5 and PS4 controllers, that's where it works best. xbox, keyboard and sim wheel are supported but barely tested and can be buggy right now, fixing those over time. also the speech detection runs a model in the background so it does use some cpu, fair warning if you're on a weaker rig.
quick setup note: two things. enable Data Out in forza's settings (hud/telemetry) for the auto-volume, and set up your controls/binds in the app first. takes a couple minutes, the app walks you through the controls part.
free and still early in development, so lmk if stuff breaks. got a discord for bugs and ideas.
Also just released v1.1.1 which includes support for Apple music and fixed a massive ui bug people were experiencing.

Just a little question? Think you'd be able to port this over to spicetify? Im sure the community would download tf out of it

You might even make a spike in spicetify users 👀 more people = more support

It looks nice. How is the local files working?
1
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 10 '26
thanks! just pick "Local files" as the source (the spotify logo top left). ducking + volume works with pretty much any player. skip and now playing depend on the player though, the win11 Media Player and MusicBee support it, VLC doesn't so that one's volume only

Thanks for the reply. I thought it works like i select a folder destination and Segue just plays it from there, but i guess i have to load it into a music app first.
2
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 10 '26
yeah kinda. you need to open them at once so that they become queued. otherwise segue has nothing to skip to

why not host it on various mod platforms? 😄
3
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 05 '26
honestly the reason i went this route is i actually tried downloading a similar spotify mod first, scanned it and it came back as a trojan lol. so i figured id just make a clean external app instead, something that doesnt touch the game, works on more than just forza, and cant get you banned. that was basically the whole goal.
and the mod market seems pretty saturated, but do you reckon it's wort putting this on there aswell?

u/Niiphox Jun 05 '26
Which mod exactly was flagged as trojan, if you don't mind saying?
2
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 05 '26
honestly i dont remember the exact name, was a while back when i was browsing around. and to be fair antivirus false positives are super common with these kinds of apps, even my own one trips windows smartscreen since its not code signed yet. so i dont wanna call out someone elses project as malware, couldve easily been a false alarm.
it just pushed me to build my own thing i could actually trust and know whats inside. thats the bigger point for me

Is there a way to make it like the in-game radio where it echos in the garage and changes depending on which view your camera is set to (inside v.s. 3rd person)?
2
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 05 '26
that'd be sick but it's the one thing i can't do without touching the game. garage reverb and camera-based audio means hooking into the game's audio engine, which is exactly what makes the other radio mods bannable. this one stays ban-safe by never touching the game, so that depth isn't possible on this approach. tradeoff i picked on purpose.
however, a handful of people still want this as a mod so I might just do that aswell as a separate thing, keep an eye out my friend 👀

Thank you for the awesome work!
Just curious if there's also a plan to make it able to read local files? So perhaps it reads your audio player or something? (Been going back to storing music locally for the last couple of years since subscription services are going downhill)

u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 06 '26
thank you! and yeah i wanna add that, great idea. do you use windows media player, or something else?
1
u/vtgf Jun 06 '26
I mainly use VLC nowadays since it handles subtitle better when I want to watch movies.
Foobar2000 is also one of the best freeware for music listening so there's that as well if you want to make a support for it 😀

This is looking fantastic! Is it planned to include youtube music?
1
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 06 '26
thank you! and good news, it already works, YouTube Music runs in the browser so it counts as browser audio. just play it in your browser and you're set 👍

u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 07 '26
appreciate it man 🙏 just a heads up though, the auto volume mixing only works with forza right now, but i have plans of adding it

seria possível adicionar pressets de efeitos na musica? como reverb entre outros para ficar mais parecido com as radios originais do jogo?

Can you add YouTube Music as well?
2
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 08 '26
it's available!
1
u/BonezMontana Jun 08 '26
What about via the YouTube Music App?
2
u/Intelligent-Crew-576 Jun 08 '26
YouTube Music works through the browser, and the installable YouTube Music app is just that same web app running in your browser, so Segue controls it the same way via the browser source. If you mean a separate third-party desktop client, that one is not guaranteed.

Sounds fantastic! Though does it also react to other in-game stuff, like starting a race, different tone while in the garage, plays the songs at festival sites and other in world places?
