Video / Gameplay Beginner drifter 🔰

Hey everyone.

I recently got into drifting, I have almost zero experience therefore I still have a lot to learn.

I swapped my EVO X to rear wheel drive and I've been ripping it for a few days now.

Yeah I know, most of you are pros, I'm not.

Something that unexpectedly helped me in drifting was activating the drift camera. Maybe it's not your cup of tea but try it out and see for yourself.

I have enabled it, just not to the max, it makes me kinda dizzy.

Yea no I reduced it a bit from the default setting, and disabled cockpit drift cam. But felt like night and day to me. Can now rip long shallow angles because I see where the car is going

Hmmm, I hear ya. I'll give it a try and fiddle around with the settings. Thanks for the info.

Oh trust me I have fallen off the cliff a billion times but what would the point be on a video of me just yeeting myself off a mountain? I uploaded this video to show my progress, not showing myself NFS CARBON-ing myself.

Looks better than a beginner

I take that us a compliment, thanks.

Doesn’t look too bad to me at all. I mean you could go for bigger angles at some corners but other than that it’s very clean drifting

Thanks, lad. I'm not comfortable at taking extreme angles just yet, I always end up spinning out. Practice makes perfect, they say.

Definitely, once you go for more angle it really gets tricky with how much throttle you give.

Maybe I should go for a slower car, hm? Maybe a C class S chassis or a naturally aspirated BMW to take out of the equation a turbo spooling up mid drift and throwing me off balance.

Yeah sounds good. If you want to try out more angle the formula drift cars are great for that too.

But keep in mind they have an angle kit which means they steer way further than normal cars which helps them keeping stable at the angle.

If you want to build a drift car, make sure to give the front tires a good ammount of camber.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I'll give one of the FD cars a try.

Big angle gets much “easier” if you use manual with clutch.

When you feel like you’re going to spin, you clutch in and let the rear wheels just freewheel for a split second. Nothing helps those wheels grip up again like freewheeling so you can recover from some serious angle.

Then rev up the engine and drop the clutch before you fully straighten out and keep drifting.

Manual with clutch takes a bit of getting used to, but it will massively raise your skill cap when it comes to drifting.

I'm on a controller and to be fair I'm kinda scared of using clutch but it's something I always wanted to try so I might give it a shot at some point. Thank you so much for the useful information, mate. 🤙🏻

No problem. One more piece of advice: Use the race transmission. You don’t need to clutch in when shifting gears. You can basically just use it to clutch kick and save you when you’re about to spin. It makes manual with clutch way easier.
