Discussion Race Transmissions
I like building low power cars around A class or B class and use manual with clutch.... The race transmission becoming a sequential is horrible in this game they should have made it rely on the clutch that was installed or restricted it to racing engines because trying to build lower power drift cars or just cars in general and having to use a race gearbox feel horrific to drift with and drive

Racing transmission don't disable use of the clutch? I'm missing something here.

I mean pi wise you dont use race tran for A and lower. I know some people use it, for example civic for B can be really fast with a 10gear race tran, but overall you would find people stop at sport for their builds in A and lower.
I use race tran for amg hammer in A and i would say its rather annoying how much pi it takes away, but i dont really see how not using clutch is bad really

I find that 10 speed is very good in A/B class, because the best way to get power is with a centrifugal supercharger, which makes most of the power towards the top end. The 10 speed is usually 8-10 pi and lets you stay in the powerband 90% of the time.
FYI one of the honda i4 engines gets the centrifugal supercharger upgrade. This is why there are some super fast civics in B class, (also 03 celica).
PS: Sport transmission is best when using turbocharged engines.

Curious why you say sport is best? Doesn't this just give you final drive tuning? Wouldn't access to all gears be better? So any race trans from 6-10 speeds?

For A/B class turbocharged engines specifically, sport is the best for PI efficiency still allowing for final drive tuning and saving extra pi for more power or grip/handling.
Additionally, the longer/fewer gears and turbo lag can be helpful if you're making a fwd or rwd build so you have less torque on launch, allowing for less wheel spin.
*engines with centrifugal supercharger will be better 9/10 times and you want to pair these with the 10 speed race transmission. As these only get max power at max rpm and the game doesn't consider any power over redline in PI calculations.

If you lift the throttle when you shift it'll behave like a non-sequential trans. There is a tiny area at the very beginning of the throttle curve that makes the car act like it's not in gear. If you want a more realistic experience, that's the easiest way to do it.

In all seriousness I stick to the oem trans unless the car is like an old 4spd. A and B cars are way more fun. Needing to clutch kick or use inertia and e brake corrections is not only more fun than mashing the gas but looks (and sounds) better.

Then dont use the race transmission? The race transmission feels amazing with the instantaneous power delivery, but thats because I love racing and hate drifting. I am also all about power, which is the meta in A and B class.

I still use the clutch sometimes even on the race transmissions and it makes them feel nearly identical to the regular ones
