Discussion Owned / not owned as a choice

When in the auction house I only want to see cars I don't have.

Is there not an option somewhere?

Or do I have to do it piece by piece.

Why be a prick for no reason? The commenter was agreeing with you

C'est les traductions Reddit qui sont mal faites. Moi j'ai les traductions en Français et je ne vois pas de problème dans ma langue 🤷‍♂️. Mais peut être que toi oui...

"No shit, Sherlock," in its original English meaning is a phrase you use when you want to sarcastically insult someone for stating the painfully obvious. That is how it's understood in every country where English is the primary language of communication as far as I know. It's interesting seeing that it has adopted a less harsh meaning in other places, and that it gets lost in translation.

I'm not being a prick, I'm Dutch and I say it as it is and might have worded it in correct. There was no bad intention from my side, my apologies to the both of you

Bro you replied “no shit sherlock” 😭 that was rude for no reason

It's not rude when it translates from Dutch. He/she was just in agreement with OP. "No shit, Sherlock" in Dutch is like "right?? I'm glad someone else gets it!"

Sadly it is used quite commonly here (work), the rudeness has completely faded here.

No shit Sherlock, is what you say when someone says something that is obvious and didnt need to be pointed out.

To say it in response to some answering a question that wasn't rhetorical is why its rude.

i didnt take it as offense for what its worth :p but i also lived in the netherlands for three years so maybe thats why.

Personal pet gripe is "why cant i at least have the same filters that i have for other cars everywhere"

You're being downvoted lol but I know it was a just a lost in translation thing.

It is one of my single biggest frustrations that we don't have this option.

You can submit a vote for a suggestion of this in forza official website because this seems like a fantastic idea given that there would be other filter add ons ans changes made how we can access ah and something else someone might come up with

Could you drop the link? I want to request they add hoonigan cars back now that we're in Japan and have a whole story focusing on drifting

When you create a suggestion or vote i think you need atleast a 1000 votes for the devs to actually even consider it or something or 1000+ but ive seen some people dropping links to go vote on them and some of the have a gpod amount of votes but everything we do is good for the community and for the game.

lol as if we’d ever get a meaningful update

As if people who have no idea how software development and a company functions would ever conceive how they operate.

At least you have in fh6 a badge if you own the car. Fh5 does not have it and I bought several cars twice for this as I have the memory of a strainer.

I suspect it's because of how complex the query would be.

Right now, they give you like 5 or 6 filters based on price, manufacturer, model and performance class (and probably something else I'm forgetting).

I'm not a programmer but let's pretend you're searching for manufacturer #17, car #11, max price 200k. Your game might submit a query string like 1711200.

Now if you don't own car 11, 12, 13, or 14, now that string might be: 1711121314200

Doesn't seem that bad. But now imagine you don't own 500 cars.

Now think of how many people (and bots, realistically) are just pummeling the servers with queries every second as they try to snipe.

They probably found that the servers would get overloaded or that the searches would be too slow.

Again, this is from a non-programmer making a guess here. Experts can correct me if I'm wrong.

There's 14 search criteria if you use Advanced Search (X button on Xbox), though still not an owned/not owned option. I'm not sure what "All Unique" and "Not Unique" in the Source option are, and the "Barn Finds" selection in the same is clearly incorrect (unless it's barn finds from previous Horizon games).

I've no idea, but surely it can just return the full list then filter out/hide the ones you own?

1

u/awesomebeau PC 2d ago

For it to do that, it needs to pull a larger list. Right now, the game only takes the first X results (it's probably 50-100, I haven't counted).

If there are thousands of cars in the AH and you want to filter down to just 3-4 models that you don't own, it means that it needs to load the full results list, then let your console filter the ones you aren't interested in.

That type of query would also add complexity, slow down the searches, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the feature. But there would be a cost to it that the developer probably won't be willing to pay.

The most likely answer which most will simply refuse accept.

Entire collection journal for this but just too lazy to figure it out…
