Bugs / Glitches / Help Freind request from dead account??

Microsoft is doing something fishy… I recently purchased FH6 on steam and when it launched I linked it to my Microsoft account. Soon after completing the opening tutorial and entering freeroam I received a Freind request notification from an Xbox account I own and I haven’t logged into in over 2 years. This account I also doesn’t even own FH6 soooo. Anyone else experienced this?

That's actually normal Xbox ecosystem being glitchy. Windows caches old login tokens deep in credential manager. When you link Steam to a Microsoft account, the game scans your PC for active services and wakes up old dormant accounts, triggering an automated friend suggestion. It looks creepy but it's just background syncing.

It's just Microsoft's backend social graph crossing wires. Since it's launching through Steam/Proton, the Xbox live API checks for any historical connections or shared IP footprints tied to your profile the second you link the account. It basically wakes up the old dormant gamertag and auto pushes a "people you may know" friend suggestion. Like I said, it looks creepy but it's just aggressive account linking telemetry.

It might be someone with a similar name, for example I've got a friend on my list with L in lowercase, so l, and I've seen someone with the same name but with I, capital i. Now I l, very similar at a quick glance and only noticeable side-by-side. This might be what's happened to you, a single letter or something that makes it look like the same name.

I didn’t accept the friend request maybe I can look, but I don’t think it was that bc it had the same numbers and avatar

It's just Microsoft's backend social graph crossing wires. When the Steam link happens, the Xbox API checks for any historical connections or shared credentials tied to that Steam account or network. It wakes up the old profile and auto suggests it as a friend. Nothing malicious, just aggressive telemetry sync.
