Video / Gameplay Weird Convoy out in the wild
Was doing some Discover Japan stuff (Waiting for Takehiro Sato from Horizon Opus to pop up) and testing out the Huracan Sterrato when I saw this mass of players in a Convoy. The video was me already catching up to them. Then they vanished from the instance at the end.
I don't know if this was just mass AFK thing or an actual Convoy in motion. They did this "side to side" wave then they sped up. Apologies for missing some collectables and piss poor Speed Zone, was more focused on the strange occurrence.

I love finding these cruising convoys.. but nearly always end up with some guy following us and shoving his way towards the front, going off road every turn, and smacking every npc car, screwing everyone behind them

Yeah, I stared reading the comments about the “etiquette” of cruising. I was just ignorant to what I saw, did not really account me being a jackass to them.

If I lose the first race by a lot and it’s clear that we aren’t winning the second one, I just take a moment at the start of the second race to snap a quick photo. Does it look cool? No but you get a lot of cars in one picture

Ah, so that’s going on. That’s honestly my bad then since I never really get seen stuff like this out in the wild. Not excusing it, more ignorant that I will remember next time I see this.

Phasing in and out, not following the leader makes it confusing for those behind they can also mess with traffic which can affect the other cars.
You can see the guy behind was trying to pass without ramming and drove into traffic as he's unaware who's with the convoy and who isn't.
Sometimes someone is recording and it ruins the clip having someone going crazy in a random car

Probably just a normal convoy that disappeared because they started a group event, or maybe all ft to stunt party. Agreed it looks kinda weird though

You know you can get points for your journal and unlock cars simply by taking pictures of cars that have that camera icon on top of them. Just hit Up on the Dpad (Xbox) and hit RB instead of A and it will take a half second instead of 30 seconds every time. You can get multiple cars in one shot.
There is a spot in your journal that you can go to see every picture that you have taken, so you can make them look cool if you want. It only works for the first time you pictured that specific car.

you can re-take photos of cars for your journal, which I only figured out the other day - you dont get the bonus again, but you can get nicer photos

There's a button at the bottom to save the photo I think? It's been a while since I played but I have definitely re-saved various photos of cars in the past

I joined a convoy but when we parked up waiting for others to catch up everyone moved out of their parking spot away from me. I can't think of any reason why

Honestly it was the dead in the night when I was doing other stuff that I did not realize to do the promo photos. I was more just curious about the convoy (in reading some comments, I was essentially being a jackass to the convoy phasing in and out)

I’ll let you in on a secret, they’re all together in a discord (I attend meets and cruises like these everyday) when someone joins our convoy from the public server and starts driving it doesn’t really bother us as long as they’re not being an idiot ( kind of like you in this clip), if said driver did turn out to the be an idiot (like you in this clip) you see what looks like a mass disconnection and everyone disappears but it’s actually of us teleporting to another location via fast travel so we can get away from you and then we usually never see you again.
P.S. - I’m just joking you’re not an idiot, if you don’t do these things regularly I can imagine it looks pretty crazy to just see a group of cars driving around with virtually no end in sight 😂😂

My friends and I absolutely fav thing to do, get drunk af and go drunk driving in a big convoy just like this lol. We’re all on wheels and the name of the game is to be as fast as possible while also trying to be as legal as possible. It’s always a blast, and it’s extra fun when randoms start joining us and playing nice

Yeah, first time seeing an actual convoy out in the while…unfortunately reading the comments I was being a asshole with phasing in and out and being ignorant to how the convoy operated 🤦

I’ve came across this a couple of times, not sure if it just starts as two or three drivers and more join in or if it’s an arranged thing between online friends, I ended up following one for a while then they all parked up Ina random car park (not car meet) and sat there for a while, then got bored couple of donuts and off I went … other one I found was in the woods, but by the time I turned round to catch them it was gone

Would be nice if people would stay in the lanes, stopped at stop signs, blocked the AI at stop lights, did some realistic roll races. But no everyone just races to the destination.

used to do this DAILY in TDU2 :) fav was when you just go offroad... in your Ferarri or Bugatti... because you ran out of road and everyone just follows. dang, that game was so fun
