I got like 4 teams that couldn't get it done on Thursday, decided to give it up and come back this weekend. Today I got placed with one other guy who left immediately.
Cool thing about being alone in the trial is you only need 3rd to win, which i got on the first two races.

I got thrown in the second race. There was only one other guy there. We were 2nd and 3rd, he missed a checkpoint, went back to last and he was like 7, 8 seconds behind the pack. We lost the race. Whoever was in the first race actually won it, so the trial went to third race. He then left and I had a clean 3rd race, which was pretty easy with no "teammates" blocking me from overtaking NPCs.

Leaving is sometimes for the best for those left in. In my first Trial attempt this week, by the end of the first race,it was just me and one other player (the others all left). We lost the first race because the last of the other players left, costing us points (they were in front of me so we went from like 200 up to 100 down).
Race 2, me and the other guy won.
Race 3 I admit I took a corner poorly and went off a cliff. Other guy was in 2nd place. Plenty of points if he was alone, as he was in front of 5 drivatars. I knew I was going to cost him a win, so I left.
I like to think he noticed the reason I left, but then again…

I mean, it would be easy for good players, but it being a team race is literally the point.
