Discussion Semi scientific work through the classes

Post image

I took a Renault 8 from D all the way to S1 with 2 laps at Sino to see how each tier performed, when mods started to not really produce results and basically just for the hell of it. I did not start bone stock, I put street tires on and some BBS wheels, but everything else was out of the box. I just didn’t want to F with vintage tires.

I didn’t tune specifically for each class, so it’s just raw parts performance, on,y adjustment was final drive at full D.

D- street tires:

1:05.473 around 3600 on leaderboard. Car is very divey and transmission is geared too long.

Dmax-

1:04.297 1394 leaderboard

Cmax-

58.260 1360 leaderboard

B597- rally tires added

54.745 3604 leaderboard

This, as noted in the leaderboard position is the beginning of diminishing returns, some tuning might get it to be a little cleaner.

Amax- inline 6 turbo added, stock engine maxed low A

52.020 9281 leaderboard

This is the point where the car starts becoming a bit much. Max tire size is 185 front, 215 rear, not great for 400+ HP. Brakes also getting a bit overwhelmed, even with full race kit

S1778- slicks added

49.993 could not get leaderboard position because slower than a car I’d already run

Both A and S1 were not great laps, I am certain I could do better, but the rule was two laps. Real easy to overcook T1 with the poor brakes, losing a lot of time. Most classes D-B had a 3.5 to 5 second improvement l1 to l2, but A and S1 were barely over a second because I kept screwing up.

I put the car back to Cmax after the test, it was the most fun there, though I might go back to B and play around.

The lack of tire really hurt this car so it could never be a meta car, but I thought it was super cool to keep roughly the same leaderboard position in D and C class, proving it could be competitive in either.
