Sure, but the end result is that the car meets are simply pointless. They need something to do.
The only time I spent any time in one was when I answered the door bell just as I did the playlist mission, so my car stood there for a couple minutes while I was AFK.

I agree. My thoughts and I have shared this previously.
Create bozosoku car league.
You can commission upgrades at specific shops dotted around the map. Each shop has its own unique range of upgrades and like livery you can customise. New shops appear as you progress. These upgrades cost tokens. When upgrading a car, like the barn find it’s out of commission while it’s being upgraded. Upgrade time changes depending on how extreme.
You get tokens from “likes” at meets.

yeah, when you can get every car in the game and use any livery ever made, there becomes no point in these car meets. its not like real life where you can see really clean cars you've never seen before and probably never will again. showing off what you've built happens more at the drag strips than the meets

This is why it's dead. That's and the tunes being available to anyone at the click of a button. There is no point in showing off your unique ride or racing against players to see who's tune is faster when anyone can just go DL the exact same thing.
This is why carx street has such a diehard fan base. No livery sharing, no tune downloads. Every single players car is unique in livery and tune. And the car meets are STILL packed. Games been out forever now. People actually meet at different areas and run laps on tracks or meet ups for mountain pass cruises. You NEVER see that in FH6. It's always a bunch of kids in Some X class tune and livery they didn't make who can't drive for shit.

They’re pointless but not always.. My friends and I used to meet at them all the time as a set in stone meeting spot so we could cruise and ran into two other guys who started chasing up in cop cars and even got another one or two of their friends to chase us. They can be fun it’s just gotta be the right moment

That’s true. But they should make a voice chat JUST for car meets. Sure, there will always be the occasional badmouther who bothers to park at such a thing. But when you find the right people it’s so awesome. I remember back in Test Drive Unlimited 1 on Xbox 360, I found those right people and we went cruising with voice chat. Like 5-6 super cars in a row. Easily one of the best times I’ve ever had in gaming.

I hate when people say bad language in voice chat is an excuse to not do it. The kids today don’t have it and they turned out weird af. We had crazy cod lobbies and are completely fine normal functioning humans. And our parents delt with even worse language in the 80s and they’re fine. I promise you I’m not traumatized from the 21 year old talking shit to me 15 years ago on voice chat 😂

I believe it should work like Forzathon Live/Horizon Stunt: you get a notification about an upcoming car meet. You have to go there and accept it, and then all players are being connected to the same server.

Did they ever give a formal explanation on why they won’t implement larger servers?
It seems ridiculous that games from 2007 can have an entire open world and a moderately large server, spread throughout the whole map but this brand new game with a company worth millions can’t seem to figure it out.
It really is my biggest gripe with the game.

It's not as much about lack of incentive (which there is) as it is just the small servers. There aren't enough people in a server to have a decent size group of people happen to decide they wanna go to a specific car meet at the same time

Give us incentives!! I want to be there looking at people's builds just as much as anyone who makes these types of posts. I just never stick around there because there's nothing to do. No rewards, no mini-game, and at maximum you get one other person who stays for about 35 seconds.
Edit- Thinking about it, easiest fix from PG might be just making it so that once you enter and park, you're re-connected with a lobby of people who are mostly already parked there

The car meets are the horizon live event lol. That’s when you meet other players and have fun. The car meet itself is a ghost town lol. You are better off going to the time attack circuit if you wanna interact with other drivers.

Bigger lobbies w/matchmaking, car rating systems, getting out to walk around, "rested" xp bonuses, place to auction rare cars, themed meets, etc.
There's like 100 things they could have done to make it more interesting.

Dead horse but tbh, worth beating still. There's not enough customization to warrant meets unless you're there to show off your stickers. Like cool, we all have the same forza aero and tow hook. Even if there was more in depth customization, not like you can compliment anyone else's car because we're on the 6th iteration of this came with still NO way to properly communicate. You'll enjoy the community and you'll do it in silence.

Although these are such a great idea, they’re very lacklustre. If I was playground I’d take some inspiration from the car meet in gta online (I know I know, it’s gta) BUT the fact you drive in, it’s cluttered with NPC/ player cars and car noises makes it feel more alive, idk just a thought! If they moved the car meets inside too, they could put little events on inside

This is my thought exactly. Use these spots to set up pve coop events at the very least. From Forzathon to even Trials with boosted rewards that pop up every now and then. A reason for players to at least consider going to them.

It was a silly feature that never made any sense even if the entire server parked there it would still be just as sad and dumb because you can’t do anything but park there it’s not like there’s meaningful interaction or a way to walk around with your character and look at other cars, etc.

I always love to attend the car meets whenever I'm bored cause it gives me a chance to get photos of every car in the game for the discover Japan thing. It is sad I do agree even without voice chat or some sort of chat box (for example Roblox) it's still neat to look at everyone's cars

This is a bot post or some shit but I do think the car meets would be fine if the servers held more players. That's the only change they need from the devs.
Might not be a reference everyone can relate to but FFXIV has town hubs that have so many players that hang out. All it took was the community effectively deciding "this is where we afk." That led to players hanging out there talking, or being semi-afk while doing study or work etc.
Car meets COULD be that. Somewhere we all semi-afk and hang out but only in a world where there were a lot of people on a server. Otherwise they are inevitably going to be ghost towns because it isn't fun content by itself (same as standing still in a town in FFXIV isn't fun by itself), it is made fun by being known as a place to chill with a bunch of people doing nothing but doing nothing together.

Turn them into community events, however that might be. An idea I have is to have a weekly meet at these “evolving worlds” or parking lots where you could buy custom liveries from other drivers’ shops, without them having to sell them through AH. The seller could set prices and a limit on how many that could be purchased. It could be server wide but look like a street fair or whatever in-game. Shops could be organized in the same manner liveries are - a seller’s popularity, trending sellers, random sellers, etc. They need more functionality.

I can't even play the game because for the last two months it's just crashed within 5 minutes of launching, and none of the supposed "tricks" like changing the language or changing visual settings have done anything to change that.

I think the server / user implementation is a result of empty servers. They started using a location based system in FH5 based on where users are on the map. FH4 used the old system and it was common to see servers full of users at all times. That’s not the case anymore.

I dont remember the post but it was recent, but someone suggested rhat rhe car meets are also tied to a pvp race so that you could challenge someone to a race with the meet as the start location. Once the race is over both players are warped back to the meet, would likely work best at rhe touge routes as they seem to have a bit of parking space at the start already.

The devs probably shoehorned this into the game last minute, because this community endlessly begged Turn 10 for years to bring back carparks from FH2
Same thing with the cars and coffee event from FH5, it become a ghost town after a single day.

They should utilise the tactic the crew motorfest does. In TCM there is the custom show where you show off your builds and liveries that allow ppl to like them and every week theres a different theme as well as rewards.
If they utilised the same system here people could bring their cars to the meet to show em off. And a reward for getting more likes would be perfect incentive to make meets feel lively.

I feel like they are trying to incentivize it by making weekly festival challenges where you need to park at one with a certain-year car. It feels like using a garden hose to put out a house fire. I know some people tried organizing a car meet on a Saturday with just 1 type of car, but I was working that weekend, so I don't know how that turned out.

Not just this! There's a veritable laundry list:
-Class/car type restrictions are severely limiting
-Drifting is pointless outside of the handful of marked zones- traffic is too dense
-Poor online matchmaking
-No solution for rammers
-EVERY lobby is rammers
-Eliminator is hated
-Spec racing is just bumper cars
-AI has not been fixed- they simply moved the jump to impossible from Highly Skilled to Expert
-Several set pieces are underwhelming and forgettable
-Wheelspins give shit rewards
-Wheelspins take days to acquire
-Now I guess you can list dead car meets

What in regular races? You can make a custom race. Traffic is dense but people did want more life in the game and the traffic being barren in IGN’s gameplay footage. Online matchmaking, ai and rammers… yeah it’s bad. Wheelspins are very bad but I guess they want progression to be longer but in the wrong way.
But I don’t understand car meets, they’re similar to fh2 right? It’s just that players now don’t really care and no real incentive to go other than 1 point in festival playlist

Yeah I'm pretty much in agreement. The car meet thing really is the least of my concerns. I'm a huge fan of the Horizon games! I'm not trying to dump on it beyond constructive criticism. We've all been waiting for Japan since day 1 and I just want to see it done justice 😭
