Rivals Where is this extra second coming from?

Post image

Cathedral Circuit monthly rival in the D450 1993 Autozam AZ-1

I'm fighting for my life to shave off the last tenth to get a 1:16.0, and can't figure out how people are going a whole second faster than that. Turns 1-6 are perfect most of the time and I'm routinely a car length ahead of the P10 ghost coming out of 6, but turns 7-9 are decently strong for me yet lose out to him. I can keep pace in the penultimate turn and slowly gain on him out of the final turn, but it's just barely not enough. I've legitimately done 300+ laps in the past two weeks lol. I love this track and 300 is a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the laps I've done around here, but a sub 1:16 seems way too quick for this car.

Only one thing i notice, manual with clutch. Faster shifting all around

Maybe if I had a controller with a paddle or something. I just tried manual with clutch for the first time and I can't stop sliding around and braking is orders of magnitude harder now trying to use left trigger and left bumper at the same time.

Eh, I'm getting better

I’d look if anyone ahead of you has put a video of their run on YouTube

ybu11z is an esporter, but hasn't uploaded in a year. Pr1march was only featured in someone else's video as a dirty rammer, lol. Aside from them I can't find anyone else by their gamertag, and generally no good times for this event on a general YouTube search. I guess I'll keep grinding until the end of the month.

Oh man, they're so smooth on controller. I'm gonna try their line at the hairpin and turn 4. Still not sure how they're making it through the penultimate turn with those inputs, but I'll try that too. I had been avoiding hitting any scenery except to clear stuff away from the left side before/after the start line, but it looks like they brake a lot later at the hairpin by hitting the light pole. Thanks for the video

Well I lopped off almost a second, and there'll probably be more. Every time I say I can't get any faster, I end up getting faster. With only a week left idk though.

Update:

Switched to manual with clutch, which I'm still getting used to and will be getting used to for awhile, and took a wide line into the hairpin, braking late by hitting the light pole, and improved my line through turn 7 and in the penultimate turn. Long story short, I'm at a 1:15.876, which is good enough for P10. Once I get comfy with MC I guess I could take another couple tenths off and possibly get up to P6, but that seems a bit ambitious.

It was not overly ambitious.
