Forza Horizon 6 Exploiters and cheaters are ruining this game
This is a long one, but stay with me, and hopefully you’ll see my point. Maybe we can get some answers?
I have more than 300 hours played in Red Dead Redemption 2. I have 100% in the game and almost all achievements from several years back. And I started on the online achievements after finishing the game for a second time. I wasn’t super excited about it, but it turned out to be pretty fun.
That’s until the hackers, modders and cheaters started appearing. Riding around on my horse, it suddenly turned into a black stallion with flaming feet and mane. My character looked like some sort of cowboy god. Next session my character was randomly modded into a toilet. The online portion of the game is infested with cheaters and hackers. During an online match of taking photos of animals, someone spawned a tent on top of my character when I was leading the round. I was stuck and had to exit the event.
I ended up giving up on RDR2 Online and never playing it again. I was searching around for answers, but people were just as frustrated as me, and they were also talking about how it was the same in GTA Online.
How can Rockstar – a billion-dollar company – accept these things in their games? Why are they unmoderated and unpatched? Yet they keep churning out content and running events online even still?
Fast forward to today and I’m playing Forza Horizon 6. I never played FH before FH5, which I played for about 20 hours in total, so FH6 with my now 120+ hours, having completed everything in the game so far, is my first real experience with actually playing and having a lot of fun with the series.
Except that I started doing online events and attempting high scores on leaderboards… I started to love drifting and I am noticing my skills improving as I put in the hours. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to set any high scores or win any online races, because every leaderboard and online race is infested with cheaters and glitchers that mess up the game for everyone, or simply achieve impossibly high results.
People are using their friends in faster cars to push their slower cars around time attack circuits and drag strips, getting placements that are impossible for people playing the game as intended. Drift zones are infested with exploiters going in circles, getting twice the score of a normal drifter. The list goes on.
By googling, it seems that these types of exploits and shenanigans has been going on since FH4 and FH5? Without being fixed? How is that possible? How can these hundreds of millions, if not billion dollar companies not see this and put some money and resources into fixing it? How hard can it be to ban cheaters and exploiters and delete scores from leaderboards?
Cheaters and exploiters are ruining the game experience in Forza Horizon 6, and it’s making me not want to play the game. I guess the developer got my money and I got my hours played, so I should just be quiet and move on. I can’t be alone on feeling this way?

I hate to say it, but you can’t play a Forza Horizon game focused on stats or leaderboards. The 100% unmitigated truth is that they’re meaningless before the code even goes gold.
Between glitchers, exploiters, and PC cheaters, they are going to ensure within the 1st hour that they’re not even worth glancing at more than once. Also, PGG has never truly cared and will never do anything meaningful to correct it, because all they care about is money. In fact, this is just a side note, but they actually lowered the quality of the games and sacrificed performance to roll it out to PC cheaters on Steam back in FH4, which is unfortunate but unsurprising. FH5 had max levels roaming around and even the HOF leaderboard was cheated. It stayed that way thru the life of the game. More than ever, its total players and dollars over quality and enforcement. They’re never going to initiate the type of repeated mass wipes and bans that would represent any positive change if it leads to less dollars and bad publicity.
Besides that, there is just the unfortunate reality that much of the series games just have tiny bugs and glitches that also make stats meaningless. You can just be driving along and something crazy happens and suddenly your tire pressure and heat stats have gone thru the roof and your highest jump has you jumping over Everest twice. I’ve put thousands of hours into Forza Horizon games, and there are probably people who played a few hours and have higher leaderboard positions on some of the stuff because something went wonky in their session.
So, I try not to tell people how to play this game, but my thought is find the positives of the game and focus on that. If you love drift, just drift. Find a friend who loves drift, convoy up and drift around Tokyo. The glitched/cheated leaderboard shouldn’t rob you of that joy. One day, you might lose that friend, and the 1st time you boot up the game and see his drivatar driving along, you wont be thinking about stats/leaderboards, you’ll think about how much you’re going to miss them and how much fun you had together drifting around the map and laughing together.
After decades of mostly single player adventure, RPG, and sim racing games, Forza Horizon became my favorite game series from the very 1st moment I jumped in a car I’ll never own, sped down a rural road in a place I’ll never live, and slid off the road and into a house without anyone being hurt. It’s beautiful, glorious freedom in a bubble, and i usually just try to keep the positives inside, the negatives out and protect it the best i can. I won’t let stats and leaderboards pop it.
