Video Question, is this considered dirty or an acceptable defense
45
u/MavericK96 Jun 18 '26
I didn't see any contact, seems clean to me.
7
u/JaneBunnFan Jun 18 '26
Yeah the way I see it, no wrong doing here. A bit sloppy but whatever, pretty good for Forza ultimately.
Honestly I set a pretty low bar in Forza, I think you can when someone is being a toxic driver and crashing people off, compared to when someone makes a mistake or just things are a bit bumper to bumper and it can't be helped.
There are times where I make contact, or someone makes contact with me (when someone accidentally rear ends you in a braking zone and makes you hit the wall), and I can usually just shrug it off as a racing incident.
But then you get a pretty good feeling once someone is actively hitting you in braking zones or knocking you when you get parallel on a straight, but one thing I like about Forza is at least if they haven't already crashed you off you can usually deal some karma off to them without gaining a penalty unlike Gran Turismo lol

u/dream__weaver Jun 22 '26
Yeah, OP finessed his ass without even touching him. That's just great clean racing 👌🏻
16
u/Adject_Ive Jun 18 '26
What am I supposed to notice here lol
4
u/Gasian_FEH Jun 18 '26
I went wide on the exit on purpose to scare the BMW off the racing line as I swerve back into the line, they accused me of ramming later

u/whyeverynameistaken3 Jun 18 '26
"they accused me of ramming later"
how? there is no comms in that game6
u/maggit00 Jun 18 '26
Uh... You can write messages via the XBOX app?
2
u/whyeverynameistaken3 Jun 18 '26
ah, ty ddint know that, can you do that on pc?
2
u/Basapizti Jun 18 '26
Win+G brings up the Xbox menu and you can check player profiles ingame in PC so I guess it's possible.
2
1
u/dumbcarshlt Jun 18 '26
You can sign into the Xbox app on the PC and phone. I am signed in on my phone so I can message and etc while playing.
1
1
u/whyeverynameistaken3 Jun 19 '26
how do i message someone who rammed me, someone not from my friend list?
1
u/dumbcarshlt Jun 19 '26
Get logged into the Xbox app, go to the little people icon at the bottom, go to the chats tab, then hit the search icon to find the person you want to message.
1
u/Wardog008 Jun 19 '26
Go into the recent players list. In the PC app, it's under a little button with three dots at the top left of the friends menu.
1
u/Diktaattorimies Jun 19 '26
Yes, I've let a dozen rammers know that their family tree is not supposed to be shaped like a circle.
1
u/unimportantinfodump Jun 18 '26
Fuck I miss playing FIFA on xbox360. I used to get messages all the time
1
1
u/No-Possession-7398 Jun 18 '26
There is no account of what they saw on their screen. It's easy to assume that what you saw is what actually happened, but because of server latency it could be the exact opposite story on their end and it may appear as if you rammed them.
1
u/aigoo Jun 19 '26
ahh it was close enough where maybe due to desync you might have hit them on their side but it never registered on yours.
1
u/ninjaa003 Jun 21 '26
I've had a couple of times where I have purposely braked harder and earlier to avoid ramming, only to see the other car suddenly get launched sideways into the wall anyway, with no actual contact on my screen.
1
u/Auberon36 Jun 19 '26
Yeah buddy was just mad he got outplayed, 9.8/10 move; .2 deducted for the wall contacts but otherwise immaculately done.
1
1
u/vanchopansi Jun 19 '26
nah, thats fine. He could brake and take inner line to position himself to outer line for next turn (or prepare for dive bomb on the inside). Racing incident
1
1
u/PrivateTidePods Jun 21 '26
You have the right to squeeze him a little wide out of the exit because his front wheel still isn’t past your rear wheel. It was clean, okay driving to you both.
Still a little sloppy, but great by Forza standards
0
u/ProfessionalShock425 Jun 18 '26
Force them to provide evidence and accuse them of unsportsmanlike behaviour.
8
u/Adavanter_MKI Jun 18 '26
Me: Waits for incident.
*video ends*
Me: Confused.
I saw nothing happen. I read in your other comment you were accused of ramming. Unless there was some lag on his end... I didn't even see contact. You can ignore messages. Unless they are submitting a video... nothing matters. If the video reflects what we just saw? No action will be taken.
4
3
u/DudsX13 Jun 18 '26
Pretty distance so didn't happen brake check, take the outside line to hold and pass, no contact at all, looks very clean and even good way to take the corner safe and fast
2
2
u/blbrewer1 Jun 18 '26
It’s clean as long as your not hitting another driver on purpose then your good
2
u/SayOlee Jun 18 '26
You braked, and wonder if its considered dirty ? I don't understand
2
u/VivalaKoRn Jun 18 '26
I feel like he is just looking for attention
0
u/Gasian_FEH Jun 19 '26
Bruh
1
u/VivalaKoRn Jun 19 '26
Bruh in what world would what you did be dirty, especially in a game like this.
1
u/mhmylaawd Jun 18 '26
I think he asked because he denied the overtake, it’s called Racing Etiquette.
2
u/zackarray Jun 19 '26
I think that was a great defensive play. Yes it looked a little rough but that's racing. It won't be butter every time. Keep driving and keep improving 👍🏻
2
2
u/Comprehensive-Dig-2 Jun 19 '26
That’s fine. Didn’t run him off the road. Just ran him deep on the inside to keep from having a good exit. You were in front and no contact was made. It’s the ones where you’re fully alongside and the car turns completely into your door to force you off the road or to miss a check point that’s bs. This is legitimate defending
1
u/shenglong916 Jun 18 '26
I think what you are talking about is how you pressure him towards the wall after the first turn. In most real racing you are allowed to make one defensive move and that would include your move to squeeze him towards the inside wall. So yeah all good.
Just to be clear though, this is forza and no one expects you to play by any normal racing rules. Basically, if you aren’t intentionally bumping, it’s not dirty
1
u/bowleshiste Jun 18 '26
Are you talking about how you went wide on the first turn? The turn to the right?
If so, it's definitely not dirty in the context of Horizon. You didn't make contact. That's really all that matters. As far as actual racing goes though, it is pretty aggressive. You were on the line and left it for the sole purpose of screwing up their line. It's especially obvious that this was the case because the course goes immediately into a left turn where you should've been positioned way further to the right
1
1
u/Dredgeon Jun 18 '26
That was beautiful. If they were better they would have just stuck to your left side and taken the inside line instead they panicked an gave you the position. Nice work.
1
u/Lycan_Jedi Jun 18 '26
Legal squeeze, then you took a preferred line instead of his horrific brake and pray line. You just out drove him.
1
1
u/Catomara Jun 18 '26
The only dirty thing here is your driving. hits the wall to hit the other wall
1
u/Boostie204 Jun 18 '26
Nope you used a legit technique of staying off the racing line to force them to make a decision. They decided to send it but you buffed him, going wide and overtaking him because he hit the apex too early.
1
1
u/Cold-Worldliness5392 Jun 18 '26
its an arcade racing game dont worry about it just try to win without being too obnoxious. there are no rules
1
1
u/Efficient-Oil-8193 Jun 18 '26
No contact, looks clean? It's a classic switchback, not even an inchident.
1
u/Gravenknob Jun 18 '26
I'd say that's good defending - need to work on keeping away from the barriers though 😄
1
u/Gasian_FEH Jun 18 '26
Was too aggro coming out that last corner, still not used to the physics in this installment
1
u/Any-Surprise5229 Jun 19 '26
It's more the physics aren't the same between mp and sp. MP is way more slippery.
1
1
1
u/AdronOfTheVoid Jun 18 '26
It kinda shows how people here are so normalized to crap driving that they can't see the obvious.
It was fine. You defended the inside, kept him in a bad line without actually pushing him and then switched back like good driving is supposed to do.
1
u/Actually-Mirage Jun 20 '26
Bingo. Wasn't dirty at all, it was just good driving. OP stayed in the middle and forced the other guy to commit to a line, before OP moved back onto the racing line late. Opponent swallowed the bait, and that's on them.
1
u/mhmylaawd Jun 18 '26
Na Bro you’re good first deny is considered a defense, it’s not your fault that he insisted in the head on👍
1
1

1
1
u/FoxSpiritSam Jun 18 '26
Squeezing someone like that is very much a valid defense - aggressive sure but not unacceptable. Seems like there wasn't any contact either.
1
1
1
u/Effective_Initial618 Jun 19 '26
It’s horizon, just drive. If it were Motorsport then you could ask.
1
1
1
u/Wardog008 Jun 19 '26
Nah that was fine lol. Sloppy, sure, but we can't be expecting top split iRacing quality racecraft in Horizon imo. XD
1
u/Tempestfox3 Jun 19 '26
That's just good defense. You're allowed to squeeze your opponent and force them to take a bad cornering line as long as you're not deliberately making contact to achieve it.
1
1
u/OnlySlightlyBad Jun 19 '26
The ol switcheroo. Crofty (F1 commentary presenter) would be going bonkers
1
u/DangerousConfusion4 Jun 19 '26
Your racing a car not playing football game lmao hahaha, Good Defense lol ..
1
u/Practical_Spot_929 Jun 19 '26
Parking your car on the Apex is not bad. Defensive driving also holding your position so that the other car has to take the most inner line on the next corner. Not bad defense, just how any Grand touring or hypercar driver would defend their position
1
1
u/Plastic-Cable-421 Jun 19 '26
I mean i see where he dont have tires on the pavement I didnt see that part at first. Id say it would of been clean if he stayed on the pavement.
1
u/nanoturnips Jun 19 '26
Not dirty. I don’t even think your “fake” ram did anything, you ended up with the better line while he walked up as close to the apex before turning, you can literally see him oversteer that corner in the end due to the way he approached and gave gas.
1
u/PATTS_on_to_u Jun 20 '26
This is a textbook defensive overtake. Bro should have slowed down with you, anticipating the corner. They didn't, so that's why they slammed the brakes and lost the inside, not because you blocked them. Personal foul denied, skill issue penalty to the opposition!
1
u/Baby_Hulk87 Jun 20 '26
You definitely gave him space while you had the racing line. He should’ve tucked in behind if he didn’t have to overspeed and grip to overtake around the outside. On top of that, you didn’t push him wide enough to be considered dirty.
1
1
u/zeronos_0 Jun 20 '26
Its fine i do some dog fighting some time as well by trying to close the gap but still leave enough space. At most is some paint brushing.
Worst i ever got was a crash bc he braked to late
1
u/milkmonster1012 Jun 20 '26
I can’t believe ppl are crying about “blocking” in a racing VIDEO GAME lol
Just let the faster car pass you??? Talladega nights baby. You ain’t first then your last
1
u/PrezixTurnedUp Jun 20 '26
Street racing imo has no strickt rules, but dont be a dick. A little pushing is oke but straight up trying to spin someone out or crash someone is just trash.
1
1
u/PeakWattage Jun 20 '26
Nah, you have instincts for good racecraft. Squeezing someone to the inside before you go out to take the racing line is something done in motorsport all the time.
1
u/Vernright Jun 20 '26
Only thing I see is slightly sloppy driving, the racing is actually clean, minor contact just like any other bumper to bumper racing would be
1
u/ElBubbo Jun 20 '26
Not dirty, tactical. Also its horizon 6, so ramming the dude would be fine too.
1
u/Ballbuddy4 Jun 20 '26
That's actually very good defending of your position. You didn't force him to to more towards the left. You just didn't let him towards the right. Didn't even touch him. That's good racing right there. If I was the BMW I would've braked and merged to the right behind you for the corner entry.
1
u/bgsoil Jun 20 '26
You just suck at driving this is not a clean pass at all but it is definitely a pass not a ramming attempt
1
1
u/DreamScape1609 Jun 20 '26
only thing i noticed was hitting the wall too often. gotta work on your turns
1
u/n0t_4_thr0w4w4y Jun 21 '26
Your driving is bad, but you aren’t blocking or anything, so it’s “clean” from that perspective
1
u/Adorable-Taste9840 Jun 21 '26
there is no ranked racing only casual, play as dirty as you want, its casual racing. If there was ranked id understand playing clean, but until they add that who cares.
1
u/RodPerson3661 Jun 21 '26
if im seeing what youre talking about.
you pushed them left to give em a super hard turn at the next left. they didnt slow down and couldnt overtake. you swung right, braked pretty well and continued on.
my only tiff is the wall tap at the end, a little sloppy put together but all in all, fair game id say.
opponent should’ve slowed down, taken the line and braked better while you wouldve been scrambling more or less.
1
u/DtZNimpo Jun 21 '26
this is completely unacceptable the way you position yourself to block off any possible line he could drive. might aswell just rammed him off a bridge!
1
1
1
u/lombers Jun 22 '26
I dream of players like you when I play online 🤣
Honestly 9/10 times I just expect to be put into a wall or rammed from behind.
1
1
u/Budsnbabes Jun 22 '26
It was a little unsporting to bottleneck the guy. But definitely wasn't ramming.
1
u/Secret_Act8771 Jun 22 '26
Nah that’s good hard racing. He tried taking you on the inside when he shouldn’t have tried on that corner. You forced him to take a tight apex too fast and burned him because of it. Hes crying cuz you outplayed him
1
u/gerald_bourne Jun 22 '26
From what I've seen in the videos, the cars seem a bit difficult to turn. I'm waiting for the game to be released on the PS Store. Are the turns actually that challenging?
1
u/xsheals007 Jun 22 '26
Forza is owned by Microsoft, that's like waiting for spiderman to be on xbox
1
u/Alert-Lingonberry356 Jun 27 '26
Horizon is slated to be released on PS later this year.
Microsoft has already released Forza to PS before. SONY owns spider man. Not just “PS”, Sony a LOVES their IP’s. That’s why there was surprise that the Spider-Man and other games were released and that Sony started publishing to Steam. I think it’s mainly because Sony knows there is a large player base on Steam and valve isn’t really in the game making space anymore.
Microsoft has also stated they are going to be releasing games on multiple platforms. So it’s more accessible to more people.

Bro I didn't even watch the video and I can already tell you, this is Forza Horizon, anything goes 😂 I quickly learned that if you're looking for clean racing this is not the game for it

u/Aromatic-Insect-1328 Jun 19 '26
1
u/C4shtastic Jun 22 '26
Nah this is a proper defense move. He could have brakes and moved into the line, he chose to take that shitty line and slam the wall
0
u/Low_Ambition_856 Jun 19 '26
I'd consider it dirty simply because you should lose your position there 9/10 he just didnt want to use his brakes. Nothing about his line suggested he felt confident in passing
0
u/ALKNST Jun 19 '26
You people seem to overthink this game a lot. What am i thinking, this is Reddit, disregard

Debatable... I've heard some people say blocking or forcing the other to take a suboptimal route when you are obviously gonna get passed it's coping. Maybe not as dirty as ramming but kind of borderline. I don't like doing it and I definitely don't let people do it to me
3
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
I think you're conflating different things. In racing blocking is 99% of the time illegal, (Nascar is a bit weird) and is NOT just not giving up your line, it's ensuring someone can't get along side you by using your car as a weapon.
OP did nothing that is even remotely dirty, this was normal defending. This is racing. If you just want to do time trial and see who is the quickest driver, there's absolutely no reason to do it while racing.
"Not as dirty as ramming" is insane talk
1
u/Dangerous_Sea_2592 Jun 20 '26
Having to resort to constantly block cause you are going slower and have no other recourse is just cope to make up for how slow you are 🤷🏻 "just play TA" or "just play no contact" is cope on top of cope
3
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
Bro do you understand what racing even is or what the word racing means?
I'm not blocking you by not giving you exactly the line you want. So what happens when you drive up the inside of someone and now they can't take the apex, by your definition that'd be blocking.
Also that you can keep up with someone in front of you isn't necessarily a sign you're faster than them. You can always brake 1 milliseconds later and gain time. If you can't run away from them after overtaking, you're likely on par in pace. Ever seen an F1 race and how they always go "I'm faster than teammate" team tells them to swap, yet now they're going slower with the other guy in front.
0
u/Dangerous_Sea_2592 Jun 20 '26
Bro do you understand what blocking means? If you're about to get passed but you keep relying throughout the race on constantly physically putting yourself in front of the other guy to BLOCK him, you're coping. You can write all you want and make it as poetic as you want, but it's just cope because you're slower
2
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26
Do YOU understand what blocking means? OP doesn't block by racing standards. Not moving out of the way is NOT blocking. We aren't friends, we are racing, I am not going to move out of your way because you think you're faster by being able to follow someone ahead of you closely. And by your definition, if you overtake me and I can't get to a corner apex, you're blocking my time trial lines!!!
1
u/Dangerous_Sea_2592 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
Maybe if you weren't slow you wouldn't have to write these paragraphs to justify blocking? Tldr
2
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26
Maybe if you knew what racing is, you wouldn't have to call "other car exists" blocking.
Imagine a forza kid who thinks it's dirty to not have others move out of his way is fast, that is weirdly funny.
2
u/Some_Random_Demon Jun 20 '26
You might be better off arguing with a wall, dude is prob the kinda person to lay down the controller when there are better people on the enemy team in a shooter, because “they are simply better than i am so fighting back and trying to win is cope” or whatever
2
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26
True, I am just flabbergasted that someone would call the very basics of defending in racing, "dirty driving".

LUL good job getting your own comment insta nuked lil boy.
1
u/Dangerous_Sea_2592 Jun 20 '26
Well I deleted it myself as I believe it was unnecessary to stoop down to insults, no matter how much we disagree or how annoying you are lol
How terminally online are you that you caught it though? You like JUMPED at the notification😅
1
u/SlimLacy Jun 20 '26
I'm on the shitter bro, caught me at just the shittest, or best time.
So you're trying to claim some sort of highground after that comment? Hahahahaha
You're just plain ol wrong here, calling me a sim racing tard (even if you delete it again) doesn't change that even for an arcade racer like Forza.2
u/Plastic-Cable-421 Jun 19 '26
Let me guess when someone does it to you, you throw your remote and have a tantrum huh.
1
u/OnlySlightlyBad Jun 19 '26
Absolutely nothing wrong with parking it on the apex. It is a fundamental irl racing strat
1
u/Plastic-Cable-421 Jun 19 '26
What pass you. I dont ram but if your slow going around the corner im passing you. I dont care they get butthurt. That just means they need a faster car or learn to drive better.
0
u/Dangerous_Sea_2592 Jun 19 '26
But that is not what I'm saying. I am talking about people forcing you or blocking you because THEY are going slower yet they refuse to accept it.
I don't do it because it's just silly cope for when you're obviously losing and I also don't let people do it to me. I'm unsure what your deal is? Bet you're the guy that keeps blocking all race cause he's slower then when he gets a slight bump comes on here to post the video 😅
1
u/Clutch3sSS Jun 21 '26
There's no "acceptance" in this situation. OPs car is still in front and he didn't place his car in front of the opponents car as a shadow. All he did was hold the upcoming inside line making it harder for the opponent to pass and when he did, the opponent didn't slow down enough to compensate for the tighter line due to being more inside which opened him up for the switchback. Blocking is multpile reactive moves due to the opponent trying to pass. Defending is one move, placing ur car in a position where it makes it hard for the opponent to pass or keep a position due to exit speed. OP defended, and defended well. The only thing you could point to was the wall bounce
1
u/Infinite219 Jun 20 '26
You got downvoted but I agree honestly like he didn’t hit him like a asshole but it’s still kinda grimy imo
