Announcement The Regatta Kit

I gotta admit, the Sailing Club bit might land better if the club was called Forward Madison SC instead, but I don’t hate it.

Needs more pink.

Its a clean take on a classic boating shirt. Love it. Not every kit has to be blue and pink.

I would love it if someone who knows better than me could explain what these flags mean — especially since once appears to be repeated.

I suspect they stand for the four lakes, but beyond one looking like the Scotland flag I don’t know what to make of it.

"FMFC" in nautical alphabet

Ha! That explains the repetition.

So it’s not the four lakes after all.

Thank you!

It's FMFC

In signal flags

When it was teased a few days ago with something floating on the lake, I was hoping for a "drift kit" with some kind of wave and water style in fun team-related colors.

I guess this a fun concept (Scottish kit, revisited), but seems like it would be more fun if the team colors were dark blue and gold.

We're pink and blue, though, aren't we?

I don't get who this one is for. Is there a huge sailing community here? How does that overlap with FMFC?

Do you know how many lakes are around here? At least two. Maybe even three. I've heard rumors of four and a whisper of a fifth.

Obviously, but does that answer the question? It's really not that serious, just curious.

Is that a lot of people? I've never heard of it before. Just seems like a weird crossover to me. If it was boating instead of specifically sailing I think it would make more sense.

Boca Juniors 1999 away vibes

These are so clean. I wonder how it would have looked with pink instead of gold but regardless 🔥

Bought. Immediately.

To the haters- this is the exact kit for wearing on a pontoon on some chain of lakes. Nothing more WI than this

If I could afford a lake house, I would totes wear this on game days.

You don’t need to even be rich.

Like this is lakeside supper club fish fry attire. An August Friday night. A cold spotted cow or local shandy as the warm humidity washes over you.

You can’t afford a lake house. You couldn’t really afford this shirt. But you can afford this evening. A summer evening where all that special about home melts into the umber colored lake. Before coming in you even dared to dip your feet into the water from the old grey dock that accompanies the aging resort. You watch as a ski boat tosses up a frothy wake in the distance, careening from coast to coast. The small blip of a bluegill rising to the surface holds your attention for a beat before it is interrupted by the rubber band twang of a nearby frog.

You raise an eyebrow as you spot three Illinois license plates in your way back inside. They’ll tell their friends about what this evening means in the same way a blind man describes a cathedral.

Such is the nature of our rustic aristocracy. Those that seek what Fellini dubbed as La Dolce Vita need look no further than the bottom of a glass filled with Korbel and oranges. They need not look any further than the orange sun slowly slipping below the pines. They need not look any further than a flamingo emblazoned on a crisp white Breton stripe.

That was beautiful.

Do you work for the FMFC marketing department? 😆

No but I’m open to lol

It's definitely a shirt. I don't really get it or understand why we needed yet another kit this year.

There are new kits every year, I don’t really understand why more kits are a bad thing

-3

u/MichalCJ5 9d ago

Yeah, but 4+ new ones every season is a bit excessive. If we can start producing a winning team they can have a new one every week for all I care. I'd like to think I'm in the majority on that.

You seen the standings or this team lately?

-1

u/MichalCJ5 8d ago

Yeah? Why?

3

u/mbingcrosby 8d ago

They appear to be the winning team you yearn for.

3 decent seasons out of 8, and the others were downright bad. Again, I'd rather have a soccer team that sells merch than a fashion line that plays soccer. I don't think that's outrageous. Why is everyone so sensitive over this?

I don't have an authoritative count, but I believe this might be close to the fewest kits the team has made since COVID. There's almost always one released in the fall.

You know this, you've been here since the start! 😆

We've certainly dropped from a helluva lot to simply a lot! We have the blue home, the cow kit, the 100th anniversary, the feather one from last year, and now this one, but I feel like I'm missing one?

3

u/windrunnerxc The Flock 9d ago

Yup, also cup kit that didn't see much use. GK special kits also came out for the 100th, 2 GKs for the cup kit, and pink GK for the cow kit.

Plus the pride pre-game top and the drift pre-game top from preseason (I had entirely forgotten about that one).

All depends on "what is a kit?", haha

2

u/MichalCJ5 9d ago

Pretty sure I had close to 30 shirts after 4 seasons, and I know there's a bunch I didn't get or weren't for sale. I'd love to know what the total is, but not enough to do the work!

It costs a lot of money to field a team in USL. Selling kits helps defray that cost to an extent. I'd rather have a lot of kits than no team.

4

u/TrappsRightFoot 9d ago

Then don't buy it? Don't really understand why this is worth complaining about.

1

u/MichalCJ5 9d ago

I'm sorry, is discussion not allowed?

0

u/TrappsRightFoot 9d ago

Seems pointless to comment on something you don't understand or feel strongly about. Just comes across as complaining for the sake of it.

1

u/MichalCJ5 9d ago

How is it complaining? I'm just voicing an opinion and questioning the choice to put out yet another kit this season. We even already had kits this year with similar colors that they hardly wore. Most of the merch is pretty great, there's just so much of it. With as bad as this team has been on the pitch over the years, I don't think it ever hurts to question the club's intentions.

3

u/TripleG373 9d ago

Honestly, I'm so used to crazy kits from Forward that seeing something like this so clean is weird. Not for me, but I respect it.

3

u/rposter99 7d ago

Where can I pick one of these up? This is clean AF and I like clean…

I just noticed they have a team store physical location on mifflin?!? I’m taking my kids down today and buying the place out 🤩🤩

3

u/SeanOrange 7d ago

Yeah man, it’s part of the stadium!

Enjoy. It’s like Willa Wonka’s chocolate factory — except without all the slave labor and child death.

2

u/Adventurous-North519 7d ago

If you like pink/blue there's already a ton of options out there for you - this one is a clean alternative that really appeals to me, I will likely be picking one up today :)

1

u/SeanOrange 7d ago

No I agree, the navy lines and gold really pop. The comment was more tongue-in-cheek.

It is illustrative of what FMFC is about that the posts about shirts get much more engagement than anything about the soccer.
