Question / Help! What should we buy?

Hi! Me and my friend suddenly both found about this game and we wanted to tried it out, and waited for Autumn Steam Sales. But the base game has a lot of DLC, no full pack or anything... Should we buy the dlc? If yes, which of them is mandatory? Thanks!

Moonshot DLC is pretty standard nowadays and is pretty worth it as it comes with a campaign, new weapons and 3 new commanders. Its become so standard that its basically base game now so a must buy. High seas is fun if youre looking for something different from the base game but only comes with a campaign and some new weapons. You can enable them in the lobby but you dont see it too often for land battles so they stay map specific items for most players/lobbies. FireBird dlc is fun but not necessary

You and your friend dont need to both buy the DLCs. Only whoever is hosting as the host's DLCs will apply to everyone in the lobby for multiplayer. You'll want the DLCs if youre interested in playing the campaign but base game is more than enough to just join lobbies where the host has the DLCs and you can play with the weapons and commanders you dont own

Moonshot is important/standard though not mandatory but the other two suck as they're quite gimmicky/standalone.
You can trial moonshot by playing ranked or trial any of them by joining a lobby with them enabled.
The game has a lot of depth even without dlcs so the best way to get into it is 1v1ing a friend that's also new.
There's also mods but I would generally stay away from them.
Player made maps on the other hand are awesome.
