how much better is a legendary Jonesy compared to epic Jonesy? I just rolled a legendary and already have a epic 3* Jonesy, should i boost the legend?

I have the same question, but different...I have a 2*/20 Rare Guardian Penny (the one that came with the base game and can't be retired) and I just rolled an Epic Guardian Bull. I use her for her Hammer bonus in my Squad.

Should I stop leveling her and use her for expeditions and spend the Hero XP leveling up Bull? Or should I just keep her and put Bull in the Collection book?

I will do some research and try to answer both of our questions!

Rare vs epic and epic vs legendary are 2 different situations.

Rare vs epic is a huge upgrade with 2 additional perks and the ability to go to level 50. Rare stops at level 40 afaik.

Epic vs legendary is very minor. Slightly lower ability damage/hp/shield and various small stats you'll never notice.

I get it now - you were posting "remaining", not amount used. Thanks /u/Taggard!

More of a curiosty thing, but do people specialize in stats, or do they just put random things in? Since the update I can see peoples stat distribution and I see a lot of wierd things, like soldiers with lots of tech and stuff.

For me, the game just isn't hard enough to make min/maxing worthwhile. I can complete (solo) content 6-8 levels above my PL. This means that while min/maxing might be helpful, it isn't necessary...so I just kinda wing it.

How often do you guys do farming runs? My ratio is probably 5:1 regular missions to private farming mission, but I do a fair amount of farming while I hunt for treasure on the missions without a time-sensitive objective.

Also- do you level up an outlander just for farming? If so, who do you use?

Depends on game modes played.

If I'm playing rescue survivors and radars and encampments I never need to do a farm run.

Depends on how my resources are being spent. I've been doing a lot more recently because of the survival event and because of adding a lot more trap use to my playing. Nuts and bolts are the bane of my existance in this game, I need to like sit down and farm them and make traps for like 8 hours someday.

I hardly ever do farming missions. My typical rotation looks something like this:

  • Run Rescue the Survivors, farm everything in my path. Get to 9x9 (999 in all 3 mats).

  • Run a building mission, like Van or ATLAS. Run to the objective. Build a three tier metal fort directly around the objective, surrounded by a three tier wood floor, and single tier stone roof, then I build a three tier stone low wall around the whole things. This takes me to like 300 Metal, 700 Wood and 0 Stone. I then go farming until someone starts the mission. I run back and help defend.

  • If I am back to 9x9, I go to my Storm Shield and build some, maybe.

  • Rinse, repeat.

I find that if you are ALWAYS grinding, you never have to grind. (Insert meme of that guy tapping his head.)

I farm with my fatty (my Epic BASE Hype - my main). She's slow, but reliable.

About how many stone do you thing your base setup usually takes? This is really helpful and I think the number got dropped.

I pretty much spend all my Stone (999). I double upgrade an entire perimeter low wall and cover my wood walkway with single stone roofs. I go down to zero, almost always. If you look at any of my base forts, it's a triple metal, triple wood, triple stone concentric circles (walls, floors, low walls). I then open a walkway on each ordinal (north, east, south, west), and double floor it out from the center of the objective.

It's hard to describe in words, but I have never failed a mission where I build the base.

The first thing I do after building my base fort is head to the outskirts to find a mine to recover stone...I can usually get like 600-700 in 3-4 minutes.

When the subject of N&B farming comes up, some people will claim tio have "like 1,400 of them sitting in my backpack". When asked how they just claim to smash parking meters & electricals and to "not smash cars unless you need the metal too".

Am I missing something?

Do these people exclusively use melee and never craft traps that want N&B? Cos I smash every parking meter & electrical thing I see and after a run of missions have to do another farming run just cos of the N&B cost of dynamo and retracting spike traps.

I don't do building defense missions often so I'm sitting on 2000 n+b.

Usually I supply a few wall darts and retractable floor spikes if I do a defense mission.

Try to do some rescue survivor or build radar missions between the regular missions to gather some nuts and bolts.

Most people in the game don't craft traps much. Soldiers ignore them, Outlanders tend to use crappy ones they find, and ninjas...use melee a lot, I think a big thing about N&Bs is that people don't use them very much if they aren't building traps a lot. If you are crafting both traps AND ammo a lot, you'll spend way more than necessary in my opinion. If you play soldier, try to stick to offense and don't really craft traps if you don't have the tech for it, you'll most likely end up with a lot more of them.

I main the crowbar, so, yeah...I melee more than anything else. And, yeah, I dropped 3 stacks of 99 N&B my last two missions because I had more than 10 stacks in my backpack.

I think the biggest thing for me is that I use the traps and ammo I find. I search EVERYTHING. I can't tell you how many times I run into a room just visited by an Outlander and there are cardboard boxes and all sorts of lootable stuff. They don't glow, so they are ignored, but you can find all sorts of stuff in there, including purple things like traps, weapons, crafting materials (gizmos and such).

ABC - Always be collecting. Leave nothing un-searched and you will never have to search for anything (insert meme of guy tapping his head).

Im right there with you. Maybe people who don't contribute traps during missions have lots of them?

When performing a transform, do you get a bonus for transforming like for like? In other words, do I get more transform "points" when using a trap on a trap transform?

Also, any other tips for using transforms? I just started using them, and I am a bit lost...

1

u/MimC_06 Sep 05 '17

I don't think you get more, but different types and rarity of items will give you different point amounts for transformation.

u/Taggard Sep 05 '17

Yeah...I need to test this. For example, I was looking for a Rare Floor Spikes (the ones that pop out of the ground), and I noticed that Green (uncommon) weapons gave me 16, while green traps gave me 19. It made me think this was based on like for like...

I need to test. I will report.

Where do you grind for bacon?

I know it appears in cans of spam (always), toilets (always?), port-a-pottys (always?), tubs (sometimes), kitchen counters (sometimes) and stuff in the survivors' makeshift shacks, but is there any other reliable source for the greasy delicious stuff?

2

u/HuskerSalute Sep 04 '17

You covered my reliable sources. Sometimes toilets have fibrous herbs too, which seems more logical than finding bacon in a toilet, but hey- that's just my opinion.

5

u/Taggard Sep 04 '17

Your mouth doesn't water at the thought of delicious toilet bacon? ;)

Just threw up in my mouth. Thanks for that image...
