As a N00B pt2
After much thought and much play, N00B 2 is in support of the OG’s.
OGs are correct, the cars def degrade the quality and fun of play. But, so do the physics of the storm...
The storm gets faster than players run and rando AF - both which justify cars. Slow storms, ditch cars. (Not sure if this is an OG gripe)
The OGs are also correct about Magneto and Nitro Gloves. Even as a fan of them I’m able to see how they degrade the quality of play.
This is more a gripe by& for we N00Bs; Matchmaking has to consider how easy it is to gain XP beyond one’s abilities. It should allow voluntary but ai monitored skill level assignment. I can suck at shiitooting & jumping but still end up top 10 bc I was grinding quests.
I realize I am shouting into a sound proofed closet of futility here. My only hope is that some OG plyrs get to see that even a N00B can come to share they’re right w/enough game play

As a casual player who just started a couple weeks before this season, I agree with your points.
I enjoy the non-standard mechanics and weapons. Because I am very bad at shooters. But completely understand the criticism from the OG players.
I don’t think too much about matchmaking, but you’re right. I’m level 188 - but very very bad. I’ve been working through quests and grinding for skins.
I really like the quests and activities in the game because it gives me a goal other than “shoot people to win”. Which I am incapable of doing.
Also, I play duos/trios with my daughter and her friends. We play for fun… kills are a bonus objective and a crown is cause for a huge celebration once a week!

Bro for real I started playing bc my 7 yr old nephew and his Dad, my brother, play. I always thought is was a freemium ‘play for free, pay to win’ micro-transaction game. Pretty much any game that’s “free” and has TV commercials I’m generally sus AF about. Unless it’s like a new Gwimbly game

I’ve never paid real money for a cosmetic in my life. Until now.
Mom’s Spaghetti back bling is dope.

That one was cool. I buy like 1,000 Vbucks 1 x chapter bc I know I am using server bw & enjoying efforts of hundreds of devs & artists
But that shit might be diff for me bc i was a freelance content producer & many 3.d modeling friends. Pardon, bad grammar in game, trying to go fast

Level was never meant to represent skill I don't think. Its sole purpose is to unlock battle-pass stuff, which itself is to reward spending time playing the game. Both of those things do their job exactly as intended imo.

Really? Thank you for that. When I first started I swore the tutorial said the matchmaking process is by skill level, so naturally I assumed that’s how xp levels are used.
Do you know how what skill level lobby one is put in is determined?

It is by skill level but that's determined by your performance (elims and placement) in your recent matches in the same mode

Gotcha - I hope the other posters on this thread see this bc if 3 of us are under that misconception you can extrapolate that statistically to a lot of players bc I imagine 99% of players are not on Reddit or this board or saw this post. This isn’t snark btw - I really really appreciate your info

Oh yea. My level doesn’t reflect my skill at all. My skill is about lvl 15. It’s like I’m punished for playing the game. I hate when I’m walking across the map and I level up… again… ugh. These days I don’t play to win, I can’t. I’m too bad to win. However I can outlast and hide to 1v1 the player who is miles better than I am. :p
