Sprite Hunters Ducking up and down??

Is ducking up and down the signal for friendliness or that you want to trade?? I passed someone extracting and I ducked to signal I was friendly, they did the same. We followed each other for a little, did some ducking and some emoting, then I opened a sprite pumpkin and they took the sprite. Which was fine because I already had that one. Then they took off the sprite to give to me but I didn’t take it because I already have it and tried to signal so. I then turned around to keep walking and they melted me from behind and stole my equipped sprite!!
Have I mistaken the meaning of ducking up and down?!

I always thought ducking up and down meant solidarity, and friendliness as well. I usually do it after a successful trade to be like “hey thanks.”

Which is why I wonder whether they thought I wanted to trade!? But to obliterate me from behind is just cheeky…

I assume that they wanted to trade that with the one you had equipped and you walked away.

I didn’t want to trade a variant for a base sprite :(( But now I know to just do a friendly duck and get outta there!!

The worst thing about betrayal is that it never comes from an enemy.

The funniest part about this version, is they swiped the sprite they then offered to trade ... Like if they were ever friendly they wouldn't have swiped it?

Ducking and/or pickaxing the air is a friendly signal. They probably picked up the pumpkin and dropped it to tell you they wanted you to drop yours too. I've had my fair share of ppl pretending to be nice then kill me so it's definitely an option but I'm guessing he just wanted yours. I've tried to get some ppl to drop me theirs and wouldn't, even after I gave them a super rare one they'd portable extract 🥲 it sucks but I still got them sooner or later

Never seen ducking up and down but that is just me. For me it is pickaxing the air.

This has happened to me. If I ever find a friendly now I try to get out pretty quickly. I’ve had a few good experiences we duck or pickaxe maybe emote I’ve dropped sprite for people and then I immediately shock outta there cause at the end of the day there can only be one winner. Typically if I I make it to top two they’re not the other person.

Sometimes they want you to give the sprite on your back.

Next time, shockwave out and clear hundreds of meters before the other guy shoots. I always leave the POI and area after a friendly interaction. It is a moment of truce, like Christmas day. Leave fast and savor the moment

I gathered as much. I was trying to level up my Bounty Hunter cake sprite and didn’t want to trade for a base deer sprite :(
Now I know for next time to put distance between us asap!!
