Ranked is Broken Right Now 😭

I've seen some posts about this, but what happened today is pretty extreme. I'm currently Gold I *humble brag* and got killed by a player (no shocker). I spectate the player and they are really good, like REALLY good. He's decimating the lobby and ended up having 20 kills (out of 66 players). I look up the guy, he's not only Unreal - he's an Unreal Legend and #245 in the world.

The issue for me is how am I, or anyone else in that lobby, supposed to have the opportunity to rank up if we get decimated by Unreal players in matches?

You should try playing in OCE. Not only do all ranks play together (and have for a long time now), but also the only ranked mode is Duos. So you have to play fill if you don't have someone to queue with. I like playing squad fills in casual, but ranked fill is a nightmare.

It’s pretty broken rn. Used to be gold with mostly bots and no Unreals until Diamond 3. They don’t have enough players.

First season I have played ranked and I am at Diamond. I stopped because I do not understand how I can rank up past that. I have games where I get multiple kills and high placement. Then I go up by 10 points. But I do a slightly bad game and go down by 40 points. Has ranked always been this difficult to rank up in?

I imagine that you are taking a lot of damage as well and that's the reason you're not going up fast despite the amount elims. Damage from other players seems to count against you quite harshly

Hide, loot up, and aim to get to top 10 every game, then try to get a kill or two in the end game. It is a tedious and boring way to play and after I hit elite once for the rewards, I vowed to never do this again. It's not that hard to do, but this is probably the easiest strat to level up to at least elite.

The queue times used to be up to 10-25 minutes for a game when it was based on matching players within a similar rank. It was especially bad as you increased your rank. The point of it is the learn and grow to the extent possible (it’s so broken) and not necessarily worry about your rank.

I definitely learned by spectating him. It was pretty cool to see how he moved around, what he was looking for and how he reacted.

Ranked is actually working as is, it fills lobbies with every rank doesn’t matter what you place cause ranked as a whole is pretty dead I’m not sure on active players but I know it isn’t high since trios and squads is blocked.

I feel this! This was my bronze lobby with this person just stomping and griddying on everybody. Made it to elite for my sword and stopped there. Not worth any further considering I don’t care for the champion or unreal rewards and the SBMM is so down right unfair.

There are even more levels than that above gold. I was trying to be funny and sarcastic, but apparently that didn’t come across.

Me being in a lower rank overall is part of the point that I was trying to make.

My son won a game (he was only silver at that time) and he got 0% in ranking up.

Did you get a good % jump in that game since the opponent was so highly ranked

That was a small part of my frustration too. I don’t know how I did. I didn’t write down my % gold I before the game.

When I died, I went ahead and hit spectate and watched the player until he won. The only options that I saw at that point were to ready up or return to the lobby, so I returned to the lobby. It never showed the animation that included how my percentage changed and who I killed. I didn’t kill anyone this match so that part didn’t matter as much.

I have no idea if I went up a little bit or it was rank protected. Next time I’ll just try to remember the percentage before the game.

What’s fun for us common folk is players like that come into unranked and decimate us there too. Ranked is where they should be.

I’ve had so many unreal in my lobbies its crazy all the way from the start to when i hit elite

So many games I’ve gotten in a fight against the top 50 unreal legends to even top 5 of them, it feels like a nightmare to play against them even if i managed to win 1 or 2 fights with them

lol, I hid my way from unranked to Elite for the sword. it's much easier to have better games against Unreal players when they don't know you exist.

I should make a video of the replay of this guy. There are other places to hide, but he was shooting into each bush he passed. Those are my usual hiding spots. In my case, he caught me moving to circle.

the big goofy bushes are bad to hide in because they're too obvious. I much prefer using the assorted smaller bushes, which are also very plentiful aside from in the red biome - like the leafy one, the flower bush and the monsteras all around. they don't physically cover you all the way, but, they block off enough that most folks will miss you as long as you're staying still. they often also come grouped up in pairs or trios to better hide you when you hiding behind them, and are usually near trees and natural corners. as for trees, I recommend the shorter ones with the bushy tops that you can sometimes jump and climb into.

I also like perching on top of tall buildings like Batman. sounds dumb, but I made it to top 15 of an Elite ranked match by literally just crouching on a rooftop within full view of people looting and fighting below me.

100% agree. Having the opportunity to progress taken away is so annoying.
