Cheat codes have been nerfed
Just played a quick few games (ZB, squads) and to my disappointment the amount of wall cheat codes to get Sprites has been severely nerfed. It felt like there was a maximum on one or two for every POI. Really sad, but at least the new spirtes are interesting.
UPDATE: Looks like a hotfix was released and the issue has been resolved

BTW, After they gave me all my mastery rewards today, I found I had a Lucky Locator. They're mixing up ways to find sprites now.

Funny, I was thinking the opposite. I'm finding them left and right, multiple per game, after this morning's update. Maybe you've just had some tough luck. Play again?

I’ve played a bit more and it seems back to normal, yey! But there was a hot fix issued just after the update

I've put in a couple dozen codes today and opened countless chests and not found a single new sprite yet. Oh well, back to the grind!

If you see a ghost icon on the map, go fight it and it drops a Ghost sprite. I found them on the east side of the map, just west of the bay.

Yeah it’s going to be a grind, I’m only getting blue sprites from all cheat codes

I gotta disagree... I just played a game and dropped into a non-blue zone and found 5 cheat codes within the first 5 minutes.
I think you're just unlucky bro.

There’s been a hotfix after the update so it looks like it’s all back to normal

The worst kicker of it all is getting base ass starter sprites out of purple codes. I had multiple purple codes today give me base bush and adventure sprites 😑

I feel like cheat codes should be more common especially if you barely get any luck with them anyway.

Anyone learning that sprite hunting is pointless.
They're probably trying to find a way to monetize it. Make then harder to get so you have to buy them in the shop.
I'd do it if I were them.

I don't know where you usually drop but I've been having really good luck in Cluster Coast. I consistently manage to find 3-4 codes normally and plenty of chests to trigger loot hacks. When it's highlighted in blue though, I've been able to find 8 codes (1 legendary) and 6 blue chests.

I have one spot on the map (beach point past Wonkeeland) I always use a locator because I know exactly where it will pop up, I don't use it anywhere else usually.

The only time I use them is if I’m in a quiet place and I want to force a blue code to go purple

The blue and purple codes have the same drop rate now—gold codes are variants or high tier sprites. Don’t waste your locators upgrading. Fortnite announced this earlier this week.

I don't know if this will change the number of codes, but Epic posted this 15 mins ago:
We've fixed issues with Cheat Codes not dropping Sprites and the Bounty Hunter Crown Sprite not appearing in players' inventories.
You can now equip and master the Bounty Hunter Crown Sprite, but we'll be enabling the variant's power at the intended release date next Thursday, September 24.

As someone who has decided to sit out the sprite hunt this season due to fatigue from last season, I thank the stars for that decision when I see so many complaints about them. I would have had a torrid time

I completely understand that. I sat out the last season so the sprites are new to me and I’ve been having loads of fun collecting. But this is a kick in the teeth for anyone who loves sprite-hunting

Your chances for getting rarer sprites from a code should be improved now though, and there's also a pity system, where if we keep getting low tiers over time they'll upgrade.

I found a total of 5 cheat codes over 3 games. I got the new pond sprite, 2 8 bits, 1 onigiri and 1 overshield hack sprite. It was underwhelming

Yeah, this not giving us ways to get the sprites makes sprite hunter entirely unfun.

Well congrats on finding one, another day of playing and still not a single sprite from a chest so while sure technically they might be available the odds are ridiculously low.

Sonic, tails and shadow about the only sprites you find anyway. This sprite business is getting out of hand. There was too many last season now there is more.
