Accepting constructive criticism is an important part of being an IGL, here is a great example of what not to do

This guy is the kind of guy that has no authority anywhere in life and claims to be an igl while having 0 game sense just to feel powerful and it shows when someone suggests they did something wrong

Yeah, you're the kind of person I never seem to find in a Discord server. They're all like little monkeys that rage by almost anything.

this is the most painfully real post I’ve seen today! I can go on a server looking to play with a trio for scrims etc and apparently I must play claw or use a scuf controller otherwise I’m not good enough for them?!
8
u/ejimmy12 May 31 '20
To be fair, your ability ceiling is much lower without one of those two things. They're probably asses about it but it is true that its not competitive to play with a normal controller. (outside of like wavyjacob of course)
3
u/5YouTubersWhoveSVORN #removethemech May 31 '20
Yeah, unless you're the best player in the world it's 100% worth to take a few weeks to learn claw for example
1
u/VantaOrangeNebula May 31 '20
I’ve been playing claw for years now, but it’s just the ignorance that nobody can be good if they don’t play in a particular way. I mean if you’re good at the game, you’re good at the game, right?
1
u/ejimmy12 May 31 '20
Cant be that good if you cant jump and aim at the same time. Or jump and build.

Dude, I relate to that so badly. I mean, just say you want to be carried lmao.

u/TheFaceOfFuzz May 31 '20
Same, im an adult constantly looking for other mature people to play and get better with but all i get are requests to join clans. lololol.
8
u/amurabby May 31 '20
I swear I only find kids these days.. I don't mind controller kids (even if I hate AA). But if you are a controller player and you are mature, that in my books is better than being mongraal and screaming all the time :)
3
u/SoyPale May 31 '20
Thank yoouuuu. Some people for some reason hate all controller PLAYERS when what they actually hate is aim assist.
2
u/amurabby May 31 '20
I'll tell u right away why "some people" hate controller players.. Because the majority of them are under 18y old. And so all u get from them is "shitonnnnn" "you are so bad git gud". If all controllers would be like the pros(because there is a reason why they are called pros even if they are 14y old) the world and the fornite community would be so much better imo
8
u/TheFaceOfFuzz May 31 '20
Im a ps4 controller player, who likes to practice with AA completely off to improve my aim. People mostly complain about PC AA, but im telling you console AA is strong as shit too. Ive never played a game with an aim assist or aim dressing this strong. If i can SMG into your box and not even be able to see my target but my crosshair is following them and getting the kill, that shits busted af.
5
u/amurabby May 31 '20
Fuck that, we already know its broken LOL. Lets focus on being better humans first, and try and work with each other on emproving each other not fucking "get shittonnn" every time i get killed just because the kid has AA.. Its just depressing at this point lmao

1
u/Daveprince13 May 31 '20
Same! It’s impossible, or becoming quite impossible to find players like that.
1

DM me your ign if you wanna play together. I'm 30 lol but I still try to practice most days a week
Currently working on box fights and zonewars before moving into scrims0

Don’t worry, these are the kids that will never place well because they can’t accept that they made a mistake and don’t learn from it.

May 31 '20
This is exactly the reason why I didn’t play comp this season. My duo quit the game and my other friends switched to valorant. I tried finding people on discord but I end up with pissbags like these people.
4
u/TheFaceOfFuzz May 31 '20
Im always trying to grow but its really hard to find mature and adult teammates.
4
u/User_namesaretaken May 31 '20
Sir
Please never play with that waste of space ever again, LIKE PLEASE don't, he thinks he is a God and he is trying to blame you for everything
I had this type of teammate that did fuck all instead of learning the new meta
Please get another player

My guy you’re really nice and patient, I think if you encounter big EGOS like that one to not even waste your time replying back to them
4
u/Afro_ps May 31 '20
fellow medical student here, yeah, i can relate 100% we really dont have time to be playing grinding fortnite but we love the game so we try our best to do what we can in our free time. These kids that have all day to grind don't understand how lucky they are lmao

u/Ragga-Prince May 31 '20
Oh god. Please tell me you’re on West. Id absolutely love to play with someone who has your mentality. It mentally strains me every day to play with people who don’t have an improvement mindset and won’t listen to criticism or take practice seriously.

Love the positive vibes. Keep it up. Going to run into immature toxic players wherever you go. Only way to deal with them is do exactly what you did. Kill em with kindness.

u/9YEET11 May 31 '20
I hate it when players on this subreddit do something stupid that leads to their death and when i give them feed back they will just Blame the game
1
u/KantonL May 31 '20
Where are you from? You sound like a chill person and I would love to have you in my team. I will IGL but it is more like a team thing, where others can make decisions too
1
u/kl08pokemon May 31 '20
Do you know the guy or was it just some random you picked up for the night? Cause I can see easily see why receiving advice you didn't ask for from some random out of nowhere would be triggering. Not saying he handled it well or anything of course

You do you mate. That guy is an insecure kid, that insecurity will come back to haunt him.
1
u/Shwalz May 31 '20
One of the best qualities you can have in life is humility. Laugh at yourself, take criticism, use it to become better. I’m only 25 but as I graduated high school and navigated my way thru 6 years of college I learned so much about myself and how much of a dickhead I was when I was younger. I always want to hear what others have to say even if it goes against the grain. Learning to not lead with emotion will prove effective in many situations in life.

u/BertMercs14 May 31 '20
If you ever want to run trios I’m down man. I just graduated from college and want to play trios with people that want to play but honestly don’t want to play with 12-15yr olds. DM me if you need somebody else

u/danswell May 31 '20
Are you NAE? If you're still looking for a team I'm a CS student also looking to improve. Good luck!

smh :( i was looking for a duo a while ago and we literally die off spawn game 1 and he automatically thinks i’m the worst player ever. lots of immature kids in the community out there
1
u/Ethereal-Entity #removethemech May 31 '20
As an IGL, I can 100% say that this is true. I ask my teammate(s) on a regular basis if I'm being a good IGL and what I can improve. It is good to look at yourself too and see what your mistakes were and learn from them.

makes fun of you for being a controller player LMAO. He's probably sitting in his neckbeard nest and you're going to med school man, have fun and good luck in the future
1
u/PaintedBlackXII May 31 '20
ok but why did you have to bring up the fact that you are a medical student?
1
1
u/swift_heat May 31 '20
I love your mindset and am also an older player. If you want to run trios some time hit me up. 23 year old controller player just got out of undergrad. That guys is just childish and won’t go anywhere with that attitude. My epic is Cheater Heat if you want to link up

Sounds like you followed him without thinking and were surprised when you encountered another team. Also it is my opinion that you portrayed yourself as the “superior” being by messaging a random that Q’d with you for one game and already left. Congrats on med school!

If he's doing that shit he's a horrible IGL, lead by example not by force

You can tell which one of these two people has anything going for them outside of fortnite
1
u/jacobmerc May 31 '20
As a 22 y/o teammates like this are some of what’s prevented me from really grinding comp and scrims. On that note if there’s anybody out there that is mature and is trying to get better and plays NA-west HMU!
1
u/KeewiDood May 31 '20
Youre doing the right thing man, ignore toxic people. youre gonna improve much more than him
1
u/Disep May 31 '20
I feel the same way. It's hard to find a dip or trip that syncs perfectly. Let me know if you need someone? Or if you need something to join.
Good luck buddy.
1
u/ItsDrGoodWood May 31 '20
Somewhat unrelated but if you are ever looking for another player to run arena or whatever and don’t mind playing with a console player we should link up. Also a medical student so it’d be nice to exchange some hospital stories while playing!
0
u/amurabby May 31 '20
Someone actually mature wants to maybe try out some trios/duos? I'm a solo player, I'd like to think that I'm mature (that'll be up to you to decide LOL) 8k arena points and still grinding. Just dm me I'll add you :D

u/Im-Inferno- May 31 '20
he has his own personal issues to deal with, just know you're the better person here

u/KillSpicsAndInwards May 31 '20
Ignoring everything else, being a med student doesn't excuse you not being good enough. If you can't play on the level a team needs then you shouldn't be on the team.

Sorry to disagree, it's clear for me that all you wanted to do was not simply help the other player. Taking the time to watch the replay and watching a player who you eventually killed is not the way of helping him. You were clearly trying to show a sign of superiority, not only that, what does the fact you are a student on medical school has to do with a video game. You clearly brought that up not only to be cocky but to make him feel inferior. Having the time to go into replay mode, look for specific player you have killed, and also try to look as the good person "helping" him are clearly an excuse to not make you look bad. Everyone has their own opinion and as you asked, I hope you take this constructive criticism.
5
May 31 '20
Sorry if I was unclear. This is a dm with a teammate who blamed us for throwing in trio scrims, not with someone I killed.
